Say you had a month off work in autumn and £2k spare cash, and wanted to take a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Asking because I'm thinking of doing this. Last year was my first out of college, I wasted all my holiday and regret it, so this year want to go on one big adventure. Trouble is I know nothing about the world and have no idea where to go. Have heard people say how great Europe, Asia and North America are but no specifics on what there actually is to do there.

Or you could possibly look into Inter-rail as well. Get to see plenty of Europe traveling by train. You could either do many countries and stay in each one for say 3 days or maybe just visit a handful but stay longer.

Bus to Newcastle-under-Lyme, taxi to Overclockers' store. Buy lots of stuff with the remaining money. Bus it back home.

What do you like doing? Might give folk a better idea of places to recommend.

Honestly I don't really know, I guess experiencing different cultures would be interesting, I like cars and technology but they're pretty much the same no matter where you are.

For the past year I've spent most days either at work in front of a computer or at home in front of a computer so just want to do something different. Quite what that thing is I'm not really sure.

2k will sort you for about 2 weeks.

Wow that's quite a lot more expensive than I thought, but the budget is flexible. I guess once flights have been taken out that's about £500 per week? So maybe upping the budget to 3k would give me another couple of weeks.

Edit:
Includes flight, food and spending money?

Yep the budget would need to cover everything.

flights, hotels and spending money?

would be a struggle

I would guess £2k has to at least cover flight, hotel and food money at minimum.

Actually, would budget at least something like £20 a day for travelling too, just in case. So that's 10% of the budget gone. Unless you don't want to explore Japan a bit on day trips. I would personally.

£2k and 2 months? I'd pick somewhere random, book a cheap room for a couple of nights and fly there. Then pretty much just wander around the region for a while. E.g. Go to Thailand (just an example - loads of other places) and decide where else to go when I got there. Make it an experience rather than a planned trip. I'd love to have done that when I was younger but never had the confidence to do it.
