XBone v PS4 sales

I really doubt anyone would buy a Xbox just cause the PS4 was out of stock.

PS4 was not that in demand either, they were selling for near enough retail price on gumtree and fleabay. Was hardly a mass hysteria around it like the Wii.....

If a kid wanted a PS4 for xmas and ended up with an XB1 instead they'd probably kick and scream, most would rather be told they'll get a PS4 in the new year when they are back in stock.

3 of my mates and my boss are waiting on PS4's and haven't bought the XB1 instead even though they all preferred the 360.

gosh, love the way everyone gets so defensive... lol well fact is, Sony took the ps3 that was a poor seller in comparison to the 360 in the early stages of its life, scrapped it and released the ps4 that nearly or did from various reports outsell the 360 in its first few months and vastly outsold the x1 in the same period all but one week , and to me that's one heck of a turn around that has given ms a good nose bleed...

and as consumers hopefully we'll benefit...

I didn't agree with the comment entirely , I was more playing devils advocate with his statement, there is no proof to back his idea up, I merely gave the comment a slight chance of maybe being truthful... you never now what parents do or buy their kids or anything really...

Well, there's always an element of peer pressure - especially with children.
One cool kid decides he wants the PS4 and suddenly everyone has to have one - or else :p
Its quite odd, my cousins are in a school where people get bullied for not owning / owning the 'wrong' console.
Back in my day i got bullied for -owning- one :o

It's still sold out, and new stock sells in minutes. I'd like to know how you gauge demand.

Had a scout round Belfast today looking at the available bundles out of interest. Some stores had limited PS4 stocks but all stores had some. A couple had no Xbox ones at all, but some had plenty.

Still no bundles that really caught my eye though, early days yet, and I am disappointed by the selection, and the price, of games.

Before christmas i walked into john lewis and asked if they had any ps4's, the girl said no and pulled out a xbone with fifa for £429 so i took it.

there was actually another guy on this very forum posting about ps4 stock now I remember about it. said if he doesn't find a ps4 soon, he'll just buy an Xbox one as he can find them..

you've just proved some will but what they can find ....

I'm more surprised that the 360 outsold the PS3 last year. Considering the strong line-up of exclusives (and PS+) last year vs the 360 having very little going for it aside from the multiplatforms, I'd have thought Sony would have shifted far more units. I certainly saw more PS3s being sold at work than 360s.

Don't forget last gen controller was a big factor in lot of cases, however there is no such issues now.

Because they have sold a lot less.

Christ it's not a hard concept to grasp.

Are you being thick on purpose? MS have been able to stock enough units in stores to keep up with demand which you declared as twaddle. Makes no difference how much they have sold. They could have given the UK such a poor amount of units like they did with the 360 and be sold out.....

They aren't doing a better job of restocking then are they? How can they do a better job of restocking and sell LESS? They are just selling less so the need to restock is not as great, and they don't need to restock shops that already have stock.... If they were both sold out and MS was selling more, then and only then would they be doing better at restocking.

Capice?

Stock for the Xbox one and PS4 has been awful up in my area...
I managed to get one from my local Argos after reserving it online (well, my wife reserved it for me)
Turns out they got 2 in stock on the same day, and both sold within hours.

I seem to be in Xbox one territory. I don't know anyone who owns a PS4, but there is zero stock anywhere
