Just installed my brand new msi 290 and it black screens randomly within minutes but usually within 45 seconds after booting up
The catalyst Drivers were uninstalled and reinstalled with the disk it came with.
When i put the old card (7870)back it works fine
Any ideas? Am i doing something wrong?

Try downclocking the memory. When i set the memory too high without voltage it blackscreens on the desktop.Try lowering it to 1000mhz if its fine bump some voltage into it and check it at 1250.Might help if not RMA it.No card should blackscreen at Stock speeds.

I don't really want to mess around with down/overclocking.I can't anyway because it wont' give me enough time before the screen goes black.

Send it back, my Sapphire was like that and they said it was faulty. Spend the money on a GTX 780 you will not regret it, I haven't

my R9 290 is at it as well. no matter what game i try it either freezes or black screens. and its running stock settings. not good for AMD atm. seen a lot returned

oh :( but at least thats a positive

did you check to see if Hynix mem ? just interested as in the other thread people were wondering if memory manufacturer in general an issue - or whether its something more fundamental design wise

don't recall any black screen issues either with any of the earlier AMD cards, or Nvidia cards
