hello,

i'm looking for a two-way fan (reversible) with pwm 4 pin control to fit at the rear of my case. the case is an EZCool H550D and despite having looked a various posts and forums i'm still confused as to what size fan i can install.

the measurements on the back of the case have 72mm fixing holes (centre to centre) so could anybody point me in the direction of the right fan to buy please?

thanks all

If going by what you are saying and the distance from the center along one edge to the screw hole is 72mm. Double that would be 140mm. believe you've over measured slightly by 2mm.

Also are there is 8 screw holes, 4 making an outer square and 4 slightly closer together?

If you can take a picture of the rear of the case we can make decision exactly, but going by what you are saying it's a 140mm fan with support for a 120mm fan.

So any good 140mm or 120mm fan would work great. Corsair AF140/AF120 would do the job nicely.

Surely a fan hole with 72mm between centres suits a 80mm fan.

A 120mm fan would be 105mm between centres and a 140mm fan would be 124mm, or thereabouts.

There aren't many cases with 80mm fan spots these days. Maybe this Ezcool is an older design.

thank you all for your input.

to clarify it is the older version of the h550 case i have so apologies if i've led any of you astray. i'm going to put it down to just being 'one of those days' as you were indeed correct about the 2mm and even more embarrassing were the holes on the outer periphery that just didn't even register! anyway now that you’ve all kindly brought my attention to my error I’d much prefer to have a larger diameter fan so, having attached a picture of the case, what fan would you all recommended I go with now please?

120mm and a dremel(or good pair of snips) to remove that super restrictive grille. Most of the airflow through that grille would be hitting metal, leading to in efficiency of the fan and excessive noise.
