Couldn't find a firm answer on this, and usually I know about this sort of thing.

If you buy a Macbook with higher education discount IN-STORE do you get the 3 years extended warranty like you do if you buy it online?

Cheers

Any documentation to back that up? I thought it was a no, but I did call them and they said that it applies in store and online. Not sure if she knew what she was talking about though.

The answer is no, but it could also depend on how good you are at blagging!

Have a read of the last paragraph in the first post here it explains all about HE discounts.

It's pretty explicit, the answer is no even if the guy in the shop says you get it. You don't - and the extra warranty isn't activated when you register your machine. Been on the pointy end of this one myself before.

This is true, I got mine online and I got my 3 years of apple care, fiend got it in store, no 3 years apple care.

I bought online and yet my warrant says it's just one year. I take it this is something that will update to 3 years within a few weeks?

You only get the 3 year warranty of you buy online or via the telephone. The warranty can then take 3 months before it's applied you'll get an email when it's been done.

You only get the first year instore but you can get the full 3 year Applecare discounted with HE - Cost about £47 when I did it and I took the hit as an in-patience tax.

If you buy in store, using HE discount, is there an option to get the 3 year in store for a small fee? I'm just thinking that if you didnt want to wait for delivery etc etc

Is the extra years of phone support worth it? Is it any good?

Also is it possible to collect in store when you ordered online? It would be Easier than waiting for a delivery

Depends what you need. I don't see me ever using it. A Google search usually fixes everything.

You can't "click & collect" (in the UK at least - I think you can in the US). Online shipping is usually super quick, and for laptops uses UPS (not sure about other items).

Yeah thats what i thought, and im pretty close to an apple store so could just pop in if i had a problems!

okay thanks, i was hoping it was possible as i pass an apple shop every day.. will just have to wait at home when i order!

Definitely worth the short wait for the extra cover. I ordered my MBP at midnight on a Sunday and it was in my hand by the Friday, that's despite the fact it was supposed to have a 4-6 day lead time before dispatch even!

The UPS tracking was great, letting you see your orders progress half way around the world, but you don't get a nice one hour slot on the day of delivery.
