So "logically" last years flooding was the warm up act for this? Was the hot weather in August 2003 at the repeal of Section 28 in England & Wales another sign that we just weren't sharp enough to spot at the time? It's a trifle unhelpful perhaps that the messages are arguably broadly consistent with the expected weather patterns at the time of year anyway albeit more extreme - I can't help wondering why we don't end up with tropical heatwaves in December or snowfall in July if an omnipotent power is trying to make a point though...

I understand the hypocrisy of my own post, but come on...the guy seriously thinks that a man in the sky caused the flooding in the response to a perfectly reasonable political decision. You really comfortable with people who have such ideas holding positions of responsibility within our government?

That question could take the thread in a whole new direction. Should those running for office be forced to demonstrate that they are of sound mind? And at what point does religious faith cross the line? Many politicians are openly proud of their religious credentials, but few in the west (at least) would stand up and say that they are doing something explicitly because God told them to.
