Thermal past question

I am building a PC for my little bro and I put the corsair h100 on before I fitted the graphics card.

Only problem is now the stiff pipes are pushing a bit on the graphics card. If I take the cooler off the CPU can I just twist it around and put it back on or do I need to clean the thermal paste off and reapply it?

personally i do, but it should be ok aslong as the temps are running at a decent idle, Make sure there is a even coverage with no sparse area's

I'd clean it off and reapply. By removing and then reapplying the heatsink with the paste that's already been applied, you can introduce air bubbles. Some pastes also cure with heat cycles, so they are not the same as when you first applied it.

Thanks, does it make a difference if it hasn't been powered on yet?

I have as5 but the stuff that comes on the h100 is apparently a lot better!

The stuff corsair use is either shin etsu or dow cowling, both quality stuff.
