Well, their admins are absolute jokers.

I posted a topic on their Steam discussion group regarding DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3, http://store.steampowered.com/app/249320/

"3rd-party DRM: StarForce ProActive 10 machine activation limit"

We heard you like to play games on a DRM platform, so we added more DRM, free of charge.

The first one was deleted, no explanation of PM sent. Why not just close it?

I posted it again, this time, I got:

You have been permanently banned from all DCS World discussions.
You have been banned by a forum moderator.
Reason: "Troll"

ROFL.

After 2 posts? REALLY? I did not even get a chance to argue with anyone, offend anyone, TWO POSTS, A post which raises a valid point about their illogical business practice?

So I am a "troll" but I guess I was not a troll when I purchased their games but now I am so they remove access to a support forum on the same platform from which I purchase their software. Nice professional ship they have going there.

ED, you are a disgrace.

Any new potential ED customers, if you disagree with anything, do not tell them. Second thoughts, just do not bother buying their products.

I once got banned for a few days on their forums because I called someone out when they were offensive to a guy who asked a simple question and I said it was not the attitude to have.

Says it all really, if you speak out againt ED even in the slightest you get banned by the fanboi mods

While I don't agree with the conduct of the moderators, you did yourself no favours re-posting the same thing which just got deleted.

You tempted the inevitable.

Permanent ban for two posts highlighting their choice of DRM? Imagine if every other developer "BANNED CUSTOMERS" when they highlighted their DRM?

I had to figure out for myself the first post was deleted after I had been banned, they did not message me to explain why so I initially thought the system had just burped on me.

Some power mad twerp no doubt. What company goes around calling their customers because that customer dislikes something they have done?

Never again.

Fan moderated mate, not company. IIRC Nate IRL on here had something to do with ED maybe give him a shout to explain it, hes a nice chap

Surprised you didn't know of their rep gimpy, it is reasonably well known that they will ban you for speaking out against anything they do.

OK ... I'll attempt answer any questions you have.

Ask..

EDIT ED have no control over the steam forums AFAIK...

EDIT2:- Hang on ... you got banned from a steam forum? that has nothing to to do with Eagle Dynamics at all?

Gimpy I know you as an honourable person, WTF?

EDIT3:- All that said, if you have question for Eagle Dynamics I will answer it, sans any bullsh*t

Nate

I reckon the moderator was bullied at school and enjoys abusing his power at every opportunity he gets as a life ban is way over the top for what you posted. A day ban for the repost would have sufficed.

You didn't follow their rules and, sadly, they have banned you for it. You gave them the inch and they took the mile.

General Rules

Do not do any of the following:

Post spam (i.e. +1, 10char, rickrolls) or Re-post Closed, Modified, Deleted Content

Repeated offenders of the above rules and guidelines will be banned from the Steam Community. Any moderator has the ability to ban a user for violating the rules at their discretion.

Really pathetic if you ask me. But I have come to expect this kind of behaviour from forum mods.

I did not know it was deleted, nobody had the courtesy to send me a message informing me so. I thought that maybe the initial post did not submit correctly.

It is not like the post was closed with a final post from a moderator explaining why they closed it.

A GOOD moderator would send a message to the poster informing them their post has been deleted and why or post the reason into the post and close it.

Deleting it then saying nothing is poor moderating but to then wave the ban hammer around owing to their own incompetence is pathetic.

Completely agree.

Are you banned from the whole steam community now or what?

This isn't a pop at ED but I'd be interested to know why any developer/publisher decides to bundle DRM on top of Steam these days.

Doesn't that just alienate the customer? It certainly puts me off buying.

They're not bundling anything on top of Steam. Steam is just a sales platform and delivery method, Steam DRM isn't used at all.

Does Steam DRM support 64 bit software yet? If not, then that's the obvious reason why they use the normal DRM.

The other reason would be that customers are not tied to using Steam, if they buy from Steam. You can buy from Steam and then download the product(s) from the DCS website, avoiding Steam altogether. The reverse is also true, buy elsewhere and then install & run via Steam, for those who like doing such things. And of course it means they only have one DRM platform to deal with, which for a very small developer may be an important consideration.
