680 to 780ti?

Is this a worthwhile jump? I just bought a new monitor (Ultra Widescreen @ 2560x1080). I feel the 680 is struggling a bit when the detail is up and I just got Battlefield 4. Is it worth the investment right now, any news on the 8xx I thought there may be some news by now hmm?

Edit: I have a Mini ITX system so SLI isn't an option btw. Other relevant specs are i7-3770k & 16gb RAM.

Yep it's quite a decent jump from a 680, I've had both the 680, 780 and 780ti and there's a decent jump between each, especially from the 680.
8xx will be the end of the year I think.

Thanks, how big is a 780 TI compared to the standard 680/780? I can't seem to find any info on if it will fit ok into a Bitfenix Prodigy case.

780ti is the same size as the 780. The 780 and 780ti are 0.5 inches longer than the 680. Should be fine in a Prodigy :)

Does it need more pins or does it take the same amount as the 680? Ta for the info :) trying to decide if maxwell is going to be worth the wait. 780TI is £500 min, 780 is £350 ish. But from what I saw benchmark wise going to a 780 from a 680 wouldn't make too much of a difference most of the time. The biggest jump would be 680 to 780 TI so more of a worthy upgrade. Of course I have only some benchmarks online to go on, and should prob get a few more detailed reviews looked up before splashing out.

Ok, thanks :) one more question -any ideas of the PSU requirements for the 780 Ti?

I have a Corsair GS600 (600W) is that going to be enough? It's powering the i7-3770k, 1 x SSD and 1x HDD. It's running fine with a stock 680, so does the 780 guzzle more or less power? :)

780ti requirement is 550w (they always give slightly higher requirements than needed), I am also sure a 680 requirement was 550w.

A 780 will work very well at 2560x1080 and is a considerable jump up from a 680. Not sure I would be spending the extra on a Ti for that res when new cards are rumoured later this year.

Have you considered AMD with a 290 ?

Tried them all, the 780Ti is a monster, if you can get a good price on one. You won't be disappointed. The 8XX cards will most likely come in Q4, could be 6-9 months away. A Ti would serve you well until then..

Hmm the 780 (none Ti) did not seem like a big enough jump from the 680. It's like going from a 770 to a 780 from what I saw. The Ti seemed to offer the biggest gulf, which is why I went to it but yeah it is a jump in price too. 780s are around £350. So around £150 more for a Ti.

There is an Inno3D Geforce 780 Ti on OcUK right now for £509. Could be a good buy, best I have found elsewhere is around £550. When do 'This Week Only' end? On the Monday?

Anyone know what's OCUKs policy like on returns? Open box = mine unless its faulty? It's not an inconsiderable sum, nice for a bit of peace of mind.
I must admit I have not spent so much on a Graphics Card since the 5800 Ultra..... and yeah I remember how that turned out ;) ahem.

OCUK are really good on returns, within 14days you can return under DSR which is basicly if you change your mind and get a replacement or refund.

i moved from a GTX690 and im noticing a noticeable improvement .i thought they would be the same but the 780ti is at least 10-15% better . looking forward to 3 weeks time when i get my second one :-)

I don't believe its worth spending £500 on a graphics card utilizing the same manufacturing process of 20nm that your current card has. I would wait 6-9 months and get at least ~150% the performance for likely a cheaper price.

When the first High end 20nm cards hit the shelves you will be lucky if you see a 30% or 40% improvement over a 780ti.

780Ti is a great upgrade from my 680GTX at 1080p. Also most seem to overclock quite nicely with the stock cooler on air so going from 680 @ stock to 780Ti @1200mhz I have jumped from 40fps max settings to 60fps in games like Crysis 3, BF4. If you have a small case like me go for one single great card - that would be the 780Ti.

Also check out the owners thread here for tips on overclocking, fan profiles and support:

Also the stock cooler is great for small cases as it exhausts all the heat. Could not be happier.

Check the brand, some are longer than others.
Like the gigabyte windforce being longer than reference by 1-2 inches
