Titanfall (Respawn Entertainment's new IP)

We're using Microsoft's cloud compute initiative to run all our servers for it, so it's all running on dedicated servers," Owens said. "We'll spin up and spin down servers as necessary, and it'll do all the AI hosting and physics calculations and all matchmaking and all of that good stuff. It's all dedicated servers, all the time." Owens also confirmed the PC version would feature dedicated servers.

You cant control them, you can rent them, you cant run one. Its a create a lobby / room scenario lik consoles. There wont be a promod type thing possible. Its casuals 100% and only 1 up from P2P in that you wont suffer host migration.

I don't understand why people are hating on this?

I mean I'm not really that interested in it but I can see why people would be and think it'll be quite successful.

It'd be nice if they allowed custom servers to have a slight variance in how many people can play say 6v6 up to 12v12 or so.

Let the players decide, becuase I don't care what dev they are - no dev can balance pre release because when the masses grab hold of it they'll find all the cheesy moves, flaws, broken mechanics, weapons etc. Let them (the player) decide what they think is balanced.

If you want to play as it's supposed to be played, the make a vanilla/stock mode.

I also laugh at some of the people saying they wouldn't play if they couldn't have mechs, I wouldn't care myself and I'm sure there are plenty who will have a blast playing infantry as a whole in some rounds. Ah well.

I still believe players are going to find a weakness against mechs with the one shot mechanic...not read much since initial release of information.

After playing it at Eurogamer I have no worries about 6v6, it really doesn't matter when the game is that fun.

More players doesn't always mean more fun.

Hmm, Titanfall preorder through GMG, £28.50 with some credit I had and a preorder code. Tempting. Will it be full of bugs and clearly not ready like BF4 though?

I think comments comparing it to cod are a bit misplaced. Yes it will be 60fps and fast paced along with maps closer in size to cod than bf4 but thats where the similarities end.

At first people might try to play it like cod but soon enough they will get thrashed. Double jumping and wall running are game changing mechanics. Whilst Quake players will get hold of the idea you have to remember theres a generation of gamers who's first fps and only fps has been cod!

It will be a new experience and I think only those players who will master moving around the maps barely touching the ground will do well.

its made by the team that made cod 4 maybe thats why there is a comparison.

the lobbies have killed this for me it could have been epic if there was full dedis and mods and stuff. without it just another mw2 with robots.

Comparisons are bound to be made given Respawns background but surely the game mechanics alone are an exciting departure from what we are used to even if dedicated servers and mods would be nice?! :)

For me it's not the dedicated server thing that could kill this game. It's the AI. From what I've seen it looks very suspect.

Will stick to Hawken, can't be assed with the DLC season pass ******** fragmenting the user base and it's EA so it's bound to a pile of **** for at least 3 months after release.

A lot of negativity in here! I'm just glad that we're finally getting a big budget multiplayer FPS that:

a) Isn't Battlefield or CoD (or otherwise WW2/modern warfare in setting)

b) Is getting a simultaneous PC release (that isn't completely a Peer 2 Peer lagfest).

It actually looks quite unique, and they're taking some risks with the gameplay and player numbers etc... surely this is precisely what every genre needs, talented game devs actually experimenting with something rather than crapping out the same game year on year for 10 years.

It's a shame about the lack of modding or pure dedicated servers we can control I can agree with that, however there are A LOT of PC multiplayer games out there that are great and work the exact same way (League of Legends anyone? Or almost any MOBA for that matter).

Oh and FWIW, I don't think it'll be a TF2 killer or anything... but I hope it's fun and I'm looking forward to trying it :)
