I have not used the heating in my bedroom this year yet.

I normally just leave the GTX 690s PC running and if it is really cold I start up the Titan's or 290Xs as well.:D

Your job must be very well paid, I work 6 days a week and it took me 4 months to afford 2 x 780 Ti's.

Ha, I'm in the same boat, have to work hard at getting nice things. Had a major financial crisis at the start of the year :D

Turned it around now mind, but I wish I did have more spare money. I was going to hold off buying any new parts until the end of this year, or Q1 next year, but I tried a GTX 780 Ti, was so impressed I thought what the hell I'll grab a pair now :D. No CPU upgrade until next year though, will be saving all my pennies for a while now :p

Early next year is going to be a very good time to buy new GPUs. By that time 20nm will have been around for 4 or 5 months and we will start to see the better non ref models coming onto the market at more reasonable prices.

The amount of money I see thrown at circuit boards is mind boggling, I know 1 or 2 people on various forums that spend so much it wanders into the realms of stupidity.

You can't really say that because it's all relative to how much is earned which unless stated is unknown.

Yeah I won't be changing from my 780 Ti's in a hurry (second card on it's way), prob get new GPU late next year. It all depends on how good Maxwell/Pirate Islands is. Def next upgrade will be a new CPU in Q1 2015, Probably 5820K + 16/32GB DDR4, so new Mobo and ram as well. If I can get a year out my current build I'll be happy. Hope it can max Witcher 3, or come close to it.

You must be minted to keep all your older cards, aren't you ever tempted to sell them on to fund towards your next build?

If it has a cooler like the 7990, or an improved version i might be interested. The 7990 was a lovely card. The fact a 290x2 would have True Audio, XDMA frame pacing and 4gb of memory does make it an attractive proposition.

a dual 290x card would be massive and very very hot. i'm waiting for 20nm and 4k, if that is boring or too expensive by the end of this year ill just cf my 7970 and get a 120hz 1440p monitor.

I know how much one of these people earns and it is a lot *no one on here* but that aside it still seems like such a waste every year spending thousands upon thousands on these incremental circuit board updates.
From an average persons perspective it just seems quite sad.

No, I just don't have a lot of other commitments.

My ex decided she prefers South Africa to me

I have no Kids

I can not drive a car (no coordination)

So that just leaves Computers.:D

As to my older cards, for gaming I still like using them, my GTX 690s I use 24/7.

As to some of my other cards like the GTX 590s or HD 5970s they are so ancient that they are not worth very much.

We're better off without relationships and all that stuff, Leaves more time for things that don't cause aggro, With computers you can turn them off and mute them whenever you want :p

Agreed. I'd buy that for a dollar. I'd imagine it would much appreciate a nice water block though lol.

There is nothing to stop a manufacturer from bringing out a dual GPU Hawaii or GK110 which comes watercooled as standard. Doing this they could even overclock the GPUs higher than the single cards for colossal performance.

Imagine a dual watercooled card that could thrash two top non ref air cooled single cards.
