Dont Starve! o.o >O.O > x.x

I went insane after about 10 days, still not been able to make a science machine as I never find gold.
 
You need to look for rocks with gold veins (look different to bog standard), then smack em with your pickaxe.

If you find the pig king you can feed him items from grave or meat and he'll give you nuggets.

You can also sometimes find them lying around in grave or rocky biomes.
 
Got to day 68 last night....1/4 way through my 2nd winter.....after being attacked by a huge group of hounds just as Dark set in........running to find beefalo protection in the pitch black, with a torch and my heat stone slowly loosing all its heat = finally dying.....was sooooo gutted.

Perma death and loosing everything is a hard pill to swallow.

Got to unlock Woodie the Lumberjack mind you.....with his weird Axe that talks to him.

All their updates are free mate, and yes, Klei have already confirmed it will be out at the same time for both PC and PS4.
 
Can I just check something obvious...

Seeds are only useful for planting right? Obviously they can be eaten but they arent that nutritious. And with pine cones they are only good for planting for trees or to saite the Treebeard thing? They are rubbish for fuel right?

Obviously you end up with a lot of these and Im tempted to discard them...

At the moment Im trying to farm spider silk/web from a nest using a meaty leaf plant - hopefully its far enough from camp not to invade!

Seeds are used to trap birds as well.....but don't have much use aside of that.

Don't discard them...just chuck them on the floor in your base and they will sit there...pinecones can be useful in times of need in the winter when your wood starts to get low as fuel (seeds may get eaten by birds).

With spiders, just make a Football Helmet (staw and pig skin) and Log Suit (wood and straw) and go in with a spear and marc them all......you wont take any damage....even the warrior spiders don't hurt.
 
Im trying to stockpile for winter now so I think Ill be ok for wood and whatever, just seems more sensible to use a slot in the chest for 20 wood rather than 40 pine cones, especially if I make a wood near my camp. I thought a few pine cones on hand in case I wake up anything might be only thing I really need them for.

Seeds seem more useful just need to get those things together (caged birds I guess and a decent farm).

I havent met a Pig yet but was hoping to befriend a few before I kill any - man thats gonna be tough to explain, how do you stock yourself up with Pig stuff while them being ok to you?!?

Would be cool if they somehow added network/Online play with friends.

Teaming up to survive would be very cool since as the game progresses it gets very hard to even survive.
 
You can just destroy their homes with a hammer gives you pig skin, boards and cut stone if i remember rightly and they don't get angry, have had 4 or 5 pigs as friends but got a bit whack happy when attacked by spiders and attacked a pig that was close, lets just say was dead pretty quickly
 
Or find a lone pig on his own...they are pretty easy to kill with a spear and a log suit on...take their skin.....then they respawn in their house after a few days.

I've spent more time playing the free PS+ games than the games I've paid for.

Killzone Shadow Fall: very pretty game, gun play is pretty fun (with the OWL), but it is just another FPS.

Assassins Creed Black Flag: really fun to start with, the thought of being able to sail anywhere on the map. Then you realise how much of a grind it gets doing all of the forts, and the amount of repetitive missions (listening in on people's conversations).

Then there is Resogun. I've easily spent the most time in this game trying for platinum. I guess it brings back the nostalgia to older games.

And Don't Starve has more replay-ability than all the above games combined.

Wait a couple weeks for Outlast to come out. You definitely won't find that dull.

Couldn't agree with all the above any more! Especially about Don't Starve and Assassin's Creed.
 
LOL, unfortunately my current playthrough (56days I think) just ended after being slaughtered by Blue Hounds - they are just too fast :(

How the heck do people survive Hounds especially at night when neutrals like Pigs are asleep? Hmm I get the sense someones gonna say making some walls...

Really annoyed I never found any decent source of Dung so found it hard to do much with farming or the replanting things. Hopefully the next world is better...

Unlocked all the characters apart from the ones that need specific unlocks - who is the best to use?

Once you start getting that deep into the game, you really need to start building walls and traps.....a good tactic against blue hounds at night is to build a funnel type wall, that has traps leading to your safe zone....something like:

Toothsome_Trap.png


THis means any hounds that try to attack you run over the traps and die....think its known as a Panic Room.

Can you set off your own traps? Or can you just run over them to the safe zone?

No you dont set off your own traps....only mobs set them off within a certain proximity.

Think each trap has 10 uses before its destroyed.....allthough you do have to reset the trap after it has gone off.

Its definetley needed because as the game goes on, the amount of warning time before the hounds strike becomes only a few seconds.....and they turn up in packs of 10+.....and they will destroy you in seconds if you arent prepared.
