Gazidis: "Arsene will be extending (his contract) with us and at right time we will make that announcement."

How do Arsenal fans feel about this? If Arsenal don't win any silverware this season, which is certainly possible if not likely, won't you be in more or less the same position as last summer? I know you've finally spent money on a big player like Ozil, but you might need more than that.

If he's extending his contract then it seems he won't be going anywhere regardless of results (within reason of course). Do you think a change is needed?

head explodes, there have been no money restrictions, by FINALLY getting rid of was it 17 players, there was money for other people. Football is about wages, not transfers, wage budget dictates what you can spend, Wenger has massively overspent on wages for under performing players. A combination of Wilshere being fit this season and very good, Flamini(free and lower wage) our full backs being fit, no CB injury crisis, Ramsey hitting some form finally(largely due to not being used deeper but much further forward) is mostly why we are doing well. People forget outside of a crap performance at Villa, Wilshere, Ramsey, Giroud, half the team were hitting form before we even bought Ozil and we were winning before he joined.

People have repeatedly said this season that our stadium debt is paid off and as such we have more money... rubbish, we still have 150mil or so stadium debt, it is NO WHERE NEAR being paid off, it's still 10+ years from being paid off. Precisely nothing financially has changed except Wenger decided to get rid of a massively bloated squad and focus those wages on a couple players..... something he's needed to do for 8 years(and isn't entirely finished with, till Diaby goes the job is not finish ;) ).

Other teams with hugely worse finances have competed for more cups and won cups that we haven't been able to. Brum, Wigan, Cardiff, Everton off the top of my head have gotten to finals or won them... the highest spending of those we outspent by basically over double in wages, the lowest we spent about 3.5-4times as much on wages as last year.

Should we compete for the league most years, yes, should we win it, no, is there a reason we shouldn't be in with a shout or 20 points off the title at the end, no.

I have a feeling we'll throw this season away like we threw away a final Brum final and most good positions we get in to.

We've had a very lucky year, in terms of injuries, who left, who came in and we have two teams with new managers within 2 points at this stage who started off a little shakey and are improving.

IF, and it's a god damned enormous IF, we don't fall apart in Feb like we do almost every year, out of FA cup, out of champs league, out of the league... maybe I'd be happy to see him have another year. If we do fall out of the running for all competitions this month, then no, nothing fundamentally has changed.

Chelsea, City, and to a lesser extent United, are the only teams capable of winning the league now imo. I expect United to spend big in the summer to challenge the other two next season and you know if Chelsea win City will outspend them and if City win Chelsea will outspend them.

The best everyone else can manage is the final CL spot and if Wenger keeps getting them that he'll be doing the best he can. Not sure anyone could get do better without huge financial backing tbh.

Oh no DM has come and posted his usual dribble:p

As for my feelings?? i want him to stay, hes Arsenal through and through and despite everyone having a pop at him about his prudence in the transfer market. He has done remarkably well to have us qualifying for CL every single season he has been in charge.

Would Mourinho, Fergie or any of the managers at City been able to do this without the huge financial backing they currently have...i dont think they would be able to.

But if he does leave then i can only hope we have a good enough manager to come in and replace him but i dont think any current manager will be able to do what Wenger has done at Arsenal for the past 8-9 seasons since we last won a trophy and not forgetting selling our best players every yr;).

Plus for the first time in as many years as i can remember, we are genuine title contenders.

It wasn't that long ago Yas that you wanted him gone, what's changed if you win nothing again this year? Ozil? You was one of those having a pop at him, was showing that he could spend 30+ on one player enough to calm Arsenal fans?

LOL yep at that point i wanted him gone due to him selling our best players and not buying replacements so that we could at least compete for a trophy or 2.

Was i the only one who wanted him gone?? no not from what i remember.

As for the puma kit deal, £150mill over 5 yrs making it the best kit deal in world football at the moment from what i was reading. Hopefully that money will be used to buy some truly world class players as i feel we are a striker/forward away from winning titles and trophies again.

The United/Nike deal is rumoured to be 76.9 million a year for 5 years. ;)

Wouldnt surprise me if that is true seeing as Utd are a much more bigger club financially than Arsenal are at the moment. But meh its about time we got a decent kit deal from someone other than Nike, who have been doing our kits for god knows how long.

Just hoping that they dont ruin the design too much but from so called leaks, it looks ok i suppose.

That is the kit I posted further up, I've seen the away kit as well earlier, modelled by Giroud, yellow and navy blue.
