Hello, it looks like this is where the experts hangout. ;)

I'm looking to upgrade my rig for FSX. FSX is mainly CPU power. I'm currently running a I7 950 3.1 with a GTX 670. Would like to OC too so a nice cooling system.

What can you guys do for me please?

Thanks

Whats is your budget sir?

What parts do you need? Case, PSU, SSD.. ect???

Don't worry about budget but also don't want to go silly :p

Yes all above as my current PC will be for streaming, recording etc. So the new one I will need all.

Thanks again.

Well too be honest a budget would good as you can go crazy with CPU power, theres a big difference in price over a 4770k and a 4930k..

And cooling can be anywhere from £30 to £300+

And don't get me started on GPU's.

It would be helpful to understand how big and what type of FSX install you're planning. Is this going to be a basic system or all the trimmings with PMDG aircraft, real-time weather and photo scenery? The basic FSX is basically single-thread bound, so you should be looking for the fastest single thread processor. A quick look on cpubenchmarks suggests that a 4770K is still very much up there; and its big cache is reputed to help too. The graphics card decision does depend on what you're planning to add to FSX.

Say £1500.

I have it all, PMDG, real weather, most of the orbx addons. So yes all the trimmings.

Thanks again.

Well, NickN's guide is worth reading...

Yes that's a good read. It get's a bit long winded!

First time I've ever seen it called FSX... it looks like a pretty old game whats all the hardware for exactly?

I mean if it looks like this https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=m...crosoft-flight-simulator-x%3Fpage%3D2;460;336

cant integrated graphics run it lol

What do you call it if its not FSX?

Good man thank you. Looking good and nice price. Is there much difference with the 780Ti?
