KIA Ceed GT

Not driven the GT but the new ceed is, imo a nicer car inside than the latest focus ( just as an example). The boggo diesel/petrol models drive comparably with most of the latest golf sized cars too.

Not something that personally appeals to me but it won't be a bad car at all

One of my neighbours has just recently bought a Ceed 4, not a GT but its spec is impressive for the price and I'd imagine they're quite similar. Honestly, they have come a really long way compared to the last Kia I was in (that was just horrible) and it's really not a bad place to be inside. The looks, though always subjective, really aren't half bad either. It's modern at the very least.

It feels as solid as a Golf in terms of build quality inside, more solid than my current Focus actually, though I have only had a short trip in it so that is a very short first impression. The neighbour did say that it's quite noisy on the motorway though.

I can't tell you about the handling but it isn't the GT version anyway.

Mum's other half had a non-GT one, he tends to change his cars fairly often but what I saw of it was impression changing to say the least.

Very impressed with it, the interior was a very nice place to be and the toys it came with were astounding. I keep meaning to call into the local dealer to take a GT for a punt.

Yeah that appears to be the general conciousness, that the make has improved a LOT over the years.

Think i'll have to book a test drive and see how it goes for myself. Already had a sit in one and its a very nice place to be.

Go test drive and see if you get on with the car.

Can't really go wrong with the 7 year / 100,000 warranty so pretty much no worry motoring.

I think Kia is getting the exterior styling spot on.

They're certainly worth a look at if you're looking at a hatch in that price range. They are more expensive now than they used to be but that seven year warranty has to be tempting right?

The only reason not to would be badge snobbery.

Yeah i'm not fussed about the badge.

Same sort of spec on a Focus ST or Golf GTI would be £25,000 or £28,000 on the latter :s

I think the Cee'd looks the best out of these also. Really is a good contender, not sure how it compares as the drivers car though?

I've had a Kia Sportage since September and it's been great. Even the negatives I'd read about and was worried about are non-existent. Would definitely recommend them as a manufacturer.

I think Kia is getting the exterior styling spot on.

They hired one of the Audi TT designers I believe and he redesigned everything. That's why everything pre-2010 (I think?) is well naff - the old Sportage is horrific!

Performance figures and economy isn't the greatest i'll agree with that but should be enough to cope and the reviews say that it feels quicker than the figures suggest.

Although i've not seen KIA themselves advertising it as a hot hatch, just that everyone takes it as one and then notes the sluggish performance figures.

Looks really nice! Just had a quick look on the Kia site and the Guaranteed Future Value of the GT on a 26 month PCP deal is £6600. Isn't that basically the trade in price that they will give you at 3 years old, take it or leave it?

You have three options, hand the car back, buy it at the Guaranteed Future Value or use that figure as a deposit for another car!

So you'd have paid £14,000 over the three years including your deposit, and they are telling you that the car is only worth £6600. Surely it's in their interest to have a higher GFV making the car appeal to more with cheaper monthly payments? Unless they think it will be worth just £6600 after 3 years..

Well no, because if everyone hands the car in after 3 years they have to guarantee themselves that they can make money on the car. 6.6k gfv if you take it as trade probably equals more like 8-9k on the forecourt.

Plus its a minimum. If they're selling for 12k the car can be flogged privately and the difference pocketed.

Pretty unlikely to work out that way tbh but at least in theory its possible
