First pc the family got was a p100 with 32mb ram, 1mb gpu and a 1gb hd second hand from a mates dad.
First pc i got was a Q6600, 4gb ram, 8800gt and 2x 160gb hd in raid 0
Bought it to play oblivion and wow. Still running it now only ever upgraded the ram and gpu. Think a major upgrade is needed soon!

I think we had a Dell with an Intel P3 processor, 13GB HDD and maybe 32mb of ram.

It wasn't anything special but it did last a good few years and it taught me a lot (more through trial and error tbh).

Thinking about it Dell PC, then an Evesham, then I think I bought an Acer laptop then 2 Dell laptops in succession.

Had the same specs, from Tiny. We had a cool 96mb ram, for which I was grateful. Lasted a few years until I wanted to play GTAIII which required 16mb video. Mine had 8mb... :(

the first pc i remember(i had one before this, but I was 4 at that time) was

intel pentium 4 3.6GHz
nvidia fx 5200
1gb ram
windows xp
80gb hdd(added 1tb sata later)
a optical drive

unfortunately it died a few months before this post(in august)
9 years of trust, loyalty and running
its a shame that he was most of the time wasn't doing what it was meant to do: gaming
but i was just 4 when i received

Can't remember details but it had a 120mhz cpu which I remember even at the time was rubbish and it was from Tiny Computers.

The first PC I bought must have been around 15 years ago, maybe more:
P120 (in an old 486 case with a turbo button)
16mb Ram
850mb hard drive
1mb Cirrus Logic graphics card
SoundBlaster compatible soundcard
8x CD Rom (?)
14" CRT

I also had an Amstrad 1640 before that with both 3.5" and 5.25" floppy disk drives, happily enough I was able to sell that to help pay for my first PC.

Post this everytime :p This was my first PC -

I found an Escom a few weeks ago when clearing out an office building we were handing back. Must have been in a cupboard for 10+ years!

Fired it up for a laugh - still booted into Windows. Then we threw it away!

I remember the Celeron 300a chip was extremely overclockable, with speeds of 450Mhz achievable (50% increase) .

Packard Bell P100, 8mb, Soundblaster Pro, 850mb HD

It played Doom, Terminator: Future Shock, Simcity 2000, and Wipeout like a champ

edit: oh wow I remember Escom, my uncle had one :P

Can't remember what the specs were but it was an IBM machine with a 5.25 inch floppy disk drive! (and a green screen)

Duke,

Got the EXACT same leaflet/book at home. Keep meaning to dig it out!

Our first family PC was a Escom. I remember everything...

Escom
Pentium 75mhz
8mb EDO Ram
1mb Cirrus Logic Graphics Card
ISA Crystal Sound Card (Sound Blaster Pro - 220, I5, D3... ;))
4x CD-ROM Drive
1Gb Hard Drive
Windows 95 / Microsoft Word 95.

After a good few family years with it, We upgraded the following...

Pentium P133mhz
24mb RAM
4mb ATi Rage Pro PCI
40x CD-ROM

Great memories, wish I never chucked her away :)

Upgraded our one from dire Cyrix 100 which was really same as P60 to a P150 which allowed my first overclock to a staggering P166 Mhz :p

Yeah the Cyrix was terrible. No floating point performance which made it useless at everything!

Duke, did you get all of the "Award" pack of CD-ROM games with your Escom PC? Like Dawn Patrol, Zool and I ton of others - just trying to think!

I recall my Dad had an Amstrad IBM compatible PC1512. Don't remember much about it, other than playing F15 Strike Eagle and using some paint program.

My own first PC was an IBM Aptiva E35, with AMD K6-2 300mhz, 64MB RAM, a 2MB on board ATI rage pro card and 8GB hard drive. I upgraded it to a K6-2 550MHZ, 192MB RAM and a Voodoo 3 3000. I still reuse the case for the odd MATX build. It's currently got an Athlon X2 4200 and an X1800XT in there (cue surprised looks when this old beige box runs fairly recent games OK).
