First ever PC?

Think it was a 486 or 386, DOS, Windows 3.1 or something, like a 350mb HDD. Can't really remember it that well, the first PC that I used properly when I was about 6ish was a P2 300hmz with 32MB of SD memory (might have originally had 16mb), 2GB HDD, Windows 95, did have USB but I didn't realise it until after I stopped using it because it was covered up.

Amstrad PC1512. 8086 with 512k of ram, CGA graphics (white, magenta, cyan and a background colour) and single 5.25" floppy. After a year I added a 32Mb hard disk.

This lasted me for 3 years at Uni before being replaced with a 386DX40 based system with co-processor and 105Mb hard disk.

486 with a turbo button, running windows 95, 32mb ram. That later got upgraded to a Pentium 100mhz with windows 98. 540mb hard drive too.

I remember going through the HDD deleting anything i could so that i could install Dune 2000.

not sure if it counts... we got an "acorn" computer - they were supposed to be what the schools were getting just before they decided to go mac!
Had a game called lander and some other "educational" game where you were a kid that got shrunk down and went inside the computer to kill some virus... happy days...

Mine was a basic PC-AT in the late 80's, which I wanted to run Wordperfect on. It was a bare board, didn't have a case, with mono graphics and a motley collection of disk drives.

I had an Amiga at the time but was getting increasingly fed up with the cost of upgrading it (ie having to buy a whole new machine) and decided to jump ship.

Had the same specs, from Tiny. We had a cool 96mb ram, for which I was grateful. Lasted a few years until I wanted to play GTAIII which required 16mb video. Mine had 8mb... :(

It was a beast!

What was the P3's clockspeed? I think they started at 450MHz, and the 32MB RAM would have dragged the processor down considerably!

Not sure about Evesham though. A few people have mentioned them in this topic and they were once our main supplier before we switched to Acer.

I really don't remember what the processor speed was, although it might have been 64mb of ram.

I did have a CD Writer with it though and a lovely beige case

Amstrad 1512 with 20MB hard drive (which I no where near managed to fill!!)

Years later, a P200 with Voodoo2 SLI !

286 with 1meg of RAM which was upgraded to 3 meg for £71 quid.

The computer actually had a turbo button that would increase the mhz to 40 ( I think ) from 28.

random numbers, but I was only 13 at the time ( I think )

4.77Mhz 8088 XT with a lovely 20mb MFM HD and 640k RAM - still have it and it works :). It runs Montezuma's revenge in monochrome like a dream.

486 SX25, 4 meg of ram, 1meg graphics card (about twice the norm at the time), 127meg HDD (not sure why not 128meg), 3.5" floppy drive, 14" monitor, klacky keyboard and PS/2 mouse.

Was awesome. Couldn't run Doom in high detail mode properly, but it could do low-res in full screen and that was chuffing awesome. Great days. :p

I had an Intel 486 with i think 2mb ram running windows 3.1

The first thing my dad did was make us back up a fresh install of windows... on to floppys.... took 3 trays of disks.

We later upgraded it to 4mb of ram at a cost of i think £90.

my first gfx card was a 16mb voodoo 3 2000pci

First PC was an IBM PS/2. I think it was a 16mhz 386

First pentium was a Dell Optiplex GXi. That was a pentium 200mhz with 32mb of RAM. I think we upgraded it with a voodoo2 card so we could play half life!

I miss turbo buttons, wish the was a way to hard wire one to enable/disable Intel Turbo boost or something :( it's cool having speed automated but I actually enjoyed the process of thinking to myself that I needed to boost the power and then pressed the button ^^

It was most noticeable with Quake where you needed to run the 486 in turbo to get a smooth frame rate.

My PC history:

Pentium 2 350mhz
It came with a 6.4gb hdd and I added another...12gb or storage, that should surely last forever...so I thought at the time!

Pentium 3 866mhz, 1gb of RAM
Added a video capture card, decent sound card, loads of hard drives..twas awesome. I had a graphics card (can't recall what it was sadly) ad it played Counter Strike nicely.

P4 2.8ghz 2gb of RAM
Started off with a Geforce FX5200 card which was alright for HL2 etc...then I upgraded to a Geforce 7800GS OC card and that made everything absolutely fly!!!

That lasted me for several years then I moved onto my current I5 setup...rather a leap forward!!! ;0

An Intel 12.5MHz 80286 with 1MB ram and 40MB HDD in 1990.

First home build an Intel 33Mhz 80486DX with 4Mb ram and 80MB HDD in 1993.
