All London underground ticket offices to close by 2015

It's concerning that you feel the need to validate your own opinions with newspaper quotes, rather than a reasoned argument.

If you dislike the guy, that's fine, but at least be able to reason for yourself.

I just posted the links for lols. If a few people in London like stupid people in charge then that's all good.
To me when a person that is in charge of a city should act like his in charge at least. Act like a clown you will be called a clown.

Yeah, because newspapers regularly publish lists of people who are not idiots

Surely the default presumption about people is that, until they show you otherwise, they are not idiots.

great you feel that way. And again we will never ever see you quote from one here ;)

Citation?

I, and pretty much everyone in London I know, thinks he is a good mayor, the fact that he also provides lols is a bonus.

citation Needed is when someone post facts not wishes :)

The fact that airports have them, and other countries haven't had any problems with them would suggest the fantasy of "hacking" and crashing is far less likely than a bored operator flicking a switch creating more problems.

Nope never. Because when the first train crash's they will have to train loads of drivers again.
I wonder if a hacker could take control of that kind of train? what control system do they use?
Has the DLR ever been hacked?
Has there ever been a crash with a driver-less DLR train - yes. Were they all subsequently refitted with drivers - no.

Since its opening over 26 years ago in 1987 how many times has the DLR crashed or been hacked? From this information it appears that it's crashed only twice (one of those during a test) which seems no worse than major incidents on the driver trains on the underground in that period:

What you mean all of a few 100yds they do? let's see what happens in Helsinki in 2016.
Their driverless trains are costing 150m euros+ I hope London doesn't think we tax payers will foot the bill!

the DLR seems to do pretty well as a driverless system (Ok there is a staff member present for door control and stuff) but on the whole I don;t think it's had any massive problems?

I don't see the issue with making everything driverless - it'll be happening at some point, Bob Crow can gtf.

Good info..thank you. I know that they was going to have driverless cars in the US but then a 14 year old hacked them pmsl

At the end of the day we all know it's about the share holders wanting more money. I say the government should NOT
give a single penny to any train company.

Personally, even though I'm a raving right wing capitalist, I'd prefer major infrastructure like transport to be run by the government (although I'm pretty sure they would make a hash of it as usual).

Isn't the London Underground owned and operated by Transport for London which is a government organisation?

The petition was signed in 2010.

Did you even read what you linked to?

In 2008 Boris signed a petition against plans by Ken Livingstone to close 40 tube ticket offices.

Furthermore, it was a pledge in his 2008 election manifesto that was adhered to. It was not a pledge in his 2012 election manifesto, so it isn't some 'broken promise' that it's being touted as. Times change.

Unions. Strikes. I hate them.

In the private sector, there are job losses....can people strike? No.

Unions just holding people to ransom over and over. Just *** off.

Why? Personally as long as somebody does their job well (I appreciate that this is up for debate in itself, but that doesn't seem to be what we're discussing here) they can act as they like, short of doing something immoral or criminal.

You haven't listened to my point in the slightest. You have backed up an incredibly skewed point of view by using an even more skewed source. An argument is only as strong as the facts that it is based on, and so far you have failed to post anything backing your argument that Boris Johnson is stupid from a half-decent source.

I will, and do, use newspapers frequently to back what I say up. However, when I do so I try to find one which will actually back me up from a reasonably objective perspective.

Are you saying that you wish Boris Johnson were stupid?
