An unsuprising verdict. How anyone can be found guilty of a crime where there is no evidence 45 years later I have no idea.

Most people can't remember what they witnessed last Tuesday let alone 45 years ago.

Ahhh the old, he's not innocent, there's just not enough evidence to prove his undeniable guilt being spouted out right on queue, unsurprising there then  Why even bother with a trial? Why not just cart him off round the back of the police station press a revolver against his temple and pull the trigger, because he's obviously guilty. :o

Am I alone in thinking this means that many successful old people are suddenly going to get done for this, with "victims" looking for payouts?

No evidence is even needed to convict therefore loads of people who haven't made anything of their lives will want a meal ticket.

Depending on the age ofc. Rape is not something you're going to forget in a hurry.

I said witnessed not experienced. Sadly without reliable witnesses it becomes one word versus another which isn't very helpful 50 years on :(

That's true. I doubt you'd forget seeing it either. But nope in a case like this, and infact many cases DNA is the key to getting a conviction.

isnt he the guy who said child molestation/rape victim's deserved it as they were being punished for bad things they did in their past lives?

Judging by the fact that 25% of women admit to have been raped or sexually abused it may just be that it's coming to light how common it really is in our society - it's silly to jump to instantly make our they are all making it up.

sexual assault is such a broad term that i'd argue well over 80% + of men have been sexually assaulted.

also interesting statistic int he USA there are more male rapes than female rapes.

Those are actually really good points. I think most people would struggle to find a man who at some point on a night out hasn't been groped by some drunk wench. Sexual assault. Yet it seems it's socially acceptable.
