mavity (2013)

I dunno...Bit harsh.

Don't get me wrong, it was an entertaining enough 90 minutes but if I hadn't seen it in the cinema in full 3D I think I would be left wondering what all the fuss was about.

Considering I think even the fancy 3D effects aren't enough to 'save' Avatar, the above is quite high praise. :)

Great movie , was not expecting it to be as good as it was , the 3D worked very well .
Although 3/4 way through i was thinking WTF.
the bit where Clooney opens the hatch to get in the capsule

I really enjoyed it, the 3d and big screen certainly enhance the visuals and overall wow factor, but it's a very tense drama that doesn't let up and I don't think that drama would be lost on a 2d home TV.

she's hallucinating from lack of oxygen at this point, Clooney getting into the capsule is basically a mirage, i.e. her brain is shutting down and she's starting to die

I can stand the less obvious inaccuracies but the one where George does the last thing he does after they've STOPPED MOVING had me gibbering at the pointlessness/bad staging/filming/whatever of that scene.

Good point actually, I don't specifically recall the music, but I guess that's a compliment to the overall atmosphere (no pun intended lol).

I really liked the way it played on the idea of no sound in space, when it built up to being incredibly loud and then went to nothing in a split second. Seeing it in IMAX helped - I kept thinking "this is surely the loudest it'll get" but it kept going up :p.

I wonder if there was ever a cut of the movie where
Sandy B drowned in the lake with the weight of the suit dragging her down? Would have thought that was a ballsy move. The ending is ambigious as it is, she could have died from exposure in the middle of nowhere.

Was good of the clip on the BAFTAs last night showing a major spoiler near the end. Nice work.

Just watched this.
My. God. The worst film I have ever seen and I have seen some shockers. Complete waste of my time. Some of the IMDB reviews are laughable too.

You expect people to give your comments the slightest consideration... considering you clearly don't?

He's spamming the Film I watched last night thread too...with post's of no quality...

I just read his post in a geordie accent....and spat out my espresso with laughter...:D

Managed to catch this last week in the cinema.

Loved it! Great film, it felt a bit longer than what it is but maybe that was down to it not letting up at any point.

Thought the 3D was great, as well used as Avatar!

Blu-Ray purchase soon as it's out!

9/10
