Hay Everyone

I Have A Retail Copy Of Windows 7 Currently Installed On My PC, I Am In The Process Of Building A New System For My Self And Would Like To Know If I Can Use It On My New Build When Its Finished

Obviously It Will Be going On To A Brand New SSD, Iv Have Been Reading About Deactivating My Current Windows Key via The Command Prompt So I Can Use My Retail Key On My New PC.

Was Thinking If This Didn't Work I Ether Buy A OEM copy Of Windows 7 Or Perhaps Even Try Windows 8.1 The Update Might Even Be Out By The Time I Finish My PC

Any Thoughts I Would Be Realy Grateful
Thanks Guys ;)

Install Win7 on the SSD using the retail key. You might have to use the phone activation method.

What's With Every Word Starting With A Capital?

Phone activation is easy and through automatic machine. Punch in your code and type the one read back :).

HA HA HA LMAO

TBH I Dont Know Why I Put Capital Letters In Front Of Every Word Something I Have Always Done Always.........Just Seems Wrong If I Don't

Know Idea LMAO ;)

Weirdo :P

doesnt the licence allow you to use it on 1 machine ... so technically as long as you remove it from the old machine you are then free to install it to your new one.

Iv heard that from a few people, when you say remove i take it they/you are talking about the licence key its self or do they mean the OS if so how would i go about doing that

No as far as I know remove just means format the hard drive .... as long as you are only running your copy on 1 machine that you own your good.

This Is Going To Sound Relay Stupid but how would i go about formatting my old HDD without fully installing windows ?? i don't intend to use the HDD in my new build

put your install disc in and boot from dvd .... run through the install process till it gets to the format hard drive part and select yes ... once it formats the hard drive simply cancel the install and turn off the computer :) or attach the hard drive to the new build then right click it in my computer and select format .. then remove it again ..... either way if you dont format I wont tell Microborg and they wont know if it isnt used but just make sure theres no personal data left on it if you give it away or sell it :)

Ok thank you very much I will try this when the time comes

Just out of curiosity would the deactivation of my licence key vie the command prompt not work ??

It wouldnt make any difference to your install, your install disc only verifies your licence is valid it doesnt determine if it had been previously used so windows will install just fine with it. As long as you have the registration details that the old system was registered with then it should also re register to you without any problems.

One last question

Say if i DIDN'T format My HDD before installing windows on my new build on my new SSD if i were never to plugin/use my old HDD with windows on it and never use it again how would Microsoft know as i whont get to the part were am able to go on to the internet to validate my Retail windows.

sorry if it sounds confusing
