interesting to note they have banned all male panels not all Same sex panels.

Im bright enough to know that there is still a gender divide especially in the entertainment industry but surely forcing the issue is akin to affirmative action.

to be honest id rather watch a show where they have picked the best guests for that particular show not best guests plus a token of number of women to make up the numbers.

I honestly wonder how long its going to be before you cannot show a program on the beeb unless you include at least 50% women in the cast/panel.

don't get why the powers that be don't realize that men are better at some things and women are better at others. same with there being certain fields dominated by men and by women. that said I very much doubt that we will see any shows or programs that are predominantly female led or oriented being forced to include men

It's a formula that works for Babestation.

better hope this doesn't spread then,

1 minute you'll be perving over some lovely then the missus will walk in and it will be some bloke oiling his pecs on the screen. you know equality and all

These people are nuts. True equality does not mean that you have 50% men and women, or the like. It means that everyone has an equal opportunity. The result probably leads to unequal panels, for example, but that's because you don't actually choose the panel on gender, you choose it on humour.

Must admit there are very, very few female comedians who I consider funny.

But equally perhaps that's because there's much less exposure to them.

After all, there's plenty of unfunny male comedians too.

So this might be a good move, maybe not short term, but longer term. Perhaps there are a whole bunch of funny female comedians who just aren't getting a chance to be on TV?

If there were more funny women it wouldn't need to be forced. When all the pc kicks off all panels will be made up of 20 people... Mixed genders, races oh and not forgetting a disabled person, OAP etc.

On the flip side, if it is forced, maybe more funny women will pursue a career in comedy.

I'm sure there's no genetic reason that women can't be funny :p I mean we all know women with a good sense of humour... they do exist :p

I know many women with excellent senses of humour. They really come into their own in a low cut top.

someone jokingly commented above but how long will it be until someone complains that xyz minority is underrepresented on bbw panels or gay/bi/transgender people are under represented.

I really do hate this stupidity, its almost as bad as the all women shortlists you get for mp selection as they are under represented.

It should be the best person the role regardless of sex/gender/religion/aversion to midgets etc etc

I don't want to be forced to have a person foisted upon me because they are under represented I simply want the best person for the job regardless

Perhaps that is the ultimate goal.

However this is not an ideal world. It may well be that being a woman/minority, etc, is a severe impediment, making the contest unequal.

Thus in some cases the best person may not be selected by the current system.

I'm sure that's the thinking behind this, right or wrong.

They should have a women. But she should remain silent and face away from the camera .That would be funny.
