*** The Official Dark Souls II Thread ***

My wife will be happy to have the living room back for a few months when I ditch the PS4 for this! Not that she's in the house much, but now i'll be hidden away upstairs for 20 hours a week.

I honestly can not wait for this, i love everything about the soul series. Shame PC release doesn't have a date yet, tempted by getting it on PS3.

I am watching the gameplay videos on Youtube and it just looks terrible to be honest just a player on screen swinging his sword around..

Unless I am watching some old footage and there's some better videos out there then please let me know.

The Dungeons looked bad and it just looked like a very bland game when watching the combat, Skyrim still looked much better than this, what am I missing here?

Really? If this is console footage it beats skyrim console footage imo!

Did you play DS1?

Dark Souls is significantly better than Skyrim. It might not look better, though DS2 is looking lovely from what I've seen, but the appeal is the challenge.

Skyrim is way too easy with the game basically hand holding throughout with go here, fetch this, type quests. Dark Souls on the other hand makes you earn progression through problem solving, perseverance and tactics. The combat is also miles better in Dark Souls, you actually have to think your way through fights and learn how to beat the enemies as every single one can kill you quickly.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Skyrim a lot and whilst Skyrim might have the story and the looks, though some might argue the story and lore or Dark Souls is more in-depth (which it maybe is), but gameplay wise Dark Souls wins by a country mile. Having put over 100 hours into Skyrim and near on 200 hours into Dark Souls I feel justified in saying the above. :)

+1
One thing that I enjoyed more in Skyrim compare to Dark Souls is modding.
I ran SKyrim with over 120 mods.I hope this time Dark Souls 2 will be more embrace by modding community.
Every other aspect of this two games Dark Souls is a winner for me,this game is so rewarding!!!

Really do wish they'd just give a release date for the PC version already :/ I got Dark Souls on PS3 originally, and then got the Prepare to Die edition on PC and played through it again... I must admit I preferred the experience on PC (with DSFix of course and using a pad, with a healthy dose of DSCFix so I could do a little coop with my friends).

Currently I'm on the fence as to whether to get this on PS3 or wait for the PC version... for me it all depends on exactly how long we have to wait for the latter! If it's only a few weeks then it's a no brainer, but something tells me that if they can't give us a date already then it might be a lot longer :/

Presumably you haven't played Demon's Souls or Dark Souls, the games really are quite different to the likes of Skyrim, The Witcher etc. Most notably, the combat is significantly more satisfying and the environments and enemies are considerably more interesting and clever (even if graphically it's not quite a shiny as the other two). Also the unique multiplayer elements make this series a lot more fun than those single player games :D

May have to pick up the hard back guide as i did with dark souls 1! Mainly as it was a really nice thing to have and contained decent lore info! Used it here and there for tips too! Also made by future press as was the previous guide!

Not to mention it's co-written by members of the community such as EpicNameBro and A German Spy. It'll be great to support their work on it.
