I stopped at question 45

Near - duplicate questions, feels like it's pushing for a negative outcome constantly by the way the questions are worded. I'll be gobsmacked if the outcome isn't something negative for gamers in general, who we're all suicidal addicts unable to maintain a relationship with the real world.

40. I would like to cut down my gaming time but it’s difficult to do.
41. I do not think I could stop gaming.
42. I could easily stop my gaming if I wanted to without any problem.
43. I often try to play games less but find I cannot.
44. I can easily cut down my gaming time any time that I want to.
45. I am always successful if I want to reduce the time I spend gaming.

OP you need to learn how to write surveys, this is a POS.

by having similar worded/meaning questions he could be looking for trends and consistency in people answers rather than if people are just clicking what ever and botching it up. or something :p

and got bored? lol what were you guys expecting? it's a questionnaire....not a colouring in book :p constructive criticism fair enough, but just flaming ain't no use to no body :p

I agree, it does appear to be quite biased towards indicating a gaming addiction.

Completed the survey; I also agree with others saying that it's an overly negative survey. All my answers really boiled down to was "no, gaming doesn't negatively impact the rest of my life at the moment". A shame there couldn't have been questions that perhaps swung the other way, as it's because of gaming that I got into my career as a games programmer in the first place, therefore if anything it's had a positive impact! This, of course, could not have been reflected in that survey with those questions.

Oh and I almost forgot, best of luck with your thesis! :)

This bit always annoys me,
Why is there no repetitious question committee, or appalling typo committee, or this survey is ten minutes too long committee?
No, instead we have some fuddys debating the ethics of whether a student can ask a few questions, then breaking for a long lunch before sitting down to get creative with their expenses form.

hmm I respect your view, although I think you're being too hard on this.
Thanks for the feedback anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. The questions are not the same. If you knew a bit of methodology in research (psychometrics) maybe you wouldn't say that :).

Anyway, thanks for the time and the detailed information.

In general I am very happy with the debate. Some very constructive, some heavily negative towards what I am developing. Either way,I truly appreciate all the comments because they are all good in some way :)

I would suggest that even if the questions are aimed to get slightly different information, the fact that so many people have said they're duplicate questions means they're being answered as though they're the same question, regardless of what the nuances of each question are.

Done.

A lot of the questions were basically asking the same thing and as such had the exact same answer. They were all very negative as well which I thought was odd. I was actually getting slightly annoyed at the repetitive, negative questions if I'm honest.
