Best 2560x1080 21:9 monitor?

:D no wonder why. Your website is very informative. Before I purchase the AOC, I'll wait a month until new information come up with LG's UM 65 21:9 panels. And then there is the freesync compatibility with no new information.

Another AOC user here, absolutely no problems with mine. Hits 100Hz without any issue. Couldn't be happier really.

21:9 is the future of gaming!

Are you actually getting 100Hz "stable"? My Dell does 100Hz but you can see the cursor skipping on left to right movement, highest mine works properly is 80Hz IIRC.

LG 29 inch here, I play games at 75hz using my hdmi cable connected to my sapphire r9 290 Tri-x, Iv been playing battlefield 4 set on ultra and 2xAA, everything runs smoothly, game plays in full screen, also movies I watch that's HD will be played in full screen also, colours on my panel is amazing, only thing I hate is the touch sensitive buttons

Thanks Temp.sgk :).

Have you tried using DisplayPort and comparing the image? Aside from the upcoming HDMI 2.0 spec, HDMI doesn't actually natively support the 21:9 aspect ratio. What you're seeing on the LG is likely 1920x1080 upscaled to 2560x1080. If you don't have anything to compare it to it can still look 'OK', but you should really test using DisplayPort and see if you notice a change.

And ViRuS2k, still waiting for those frame skipping pictures ;).

i took a few screen shots the other night and yes there is frame skipping going on but its so small that i cant detect it when watching movies or gaming or desktop or even cursor stutters.

i experiance none of that.

right up to 75hz no frame skipping at all.
100hz and 120hz have frame skipping but like i said no one would notice it hell if it wasn't for that test i wouldn't notice it...

and the only way to see it is to slow a camera shutter speed down and take a snap, thats why a camera is used in the first place to detect it, bet ya the human eye cant lol

Thanks I'm going to order a display port cable ASAP and see if there's any difference

At 100Hz I can't see any skipping. If I test for it, skipping is occuring but when I am using it I don't see it. When I go above 100Hz, I start to notice it. My screen will do 120Hz, but it's not useable to me at that level as the skipping is very noticeable.

The LG 2560x1080p Monitor is STUNNING.

My housemate has one and even though the pixel density is no different to a 1920x1080p Panel it looks worlds apart.

The matte finish is perfect and it doesnt damage the image quality in any way, shape or form.

Was so close to getting one today, but want a bit more I think.

Though the great thing is these are pretty easy to drive from a gaming perspective.

After brief stint with surround, am craving wider than 16:9.

But I need better than 1080 vertical for a lot of my use.

Think my only 2 choices are 3x24 inch 1920x1200, which are pricey these days, or wait for the 3440x1440 ultra wides.

Either of those choices requires more than single 780 :-(

30" 3440x1440 screens will be around soon
seems lately that monitors are becoming very cheap for high resolutions..... seems LG and Samsung are poping out there panels right left and center lol

I picked up the Dell U2913 a few weeks ago. Absolutely sublime monitor! It's only got a 60Hz refresh rate, but unless you're doing some intense gaming you won't notice the difference. The colours on this monitor really stand out for me!

I have used a 120hz BenQ and I will admit that even though in Super fast paced events the monitor was much smoother it wasn't that much over my normal 60hz monitor it also gave me a bit of a headache and sometimes finer details seemed to smudge a bit. Overall I'd rather have an IPS with much better colours than a TN unit that is slightly smoother (if you have the gfx power to push it).

Agreed, so is the AOC considered class 1 for input response time ? if it were say reviewed on TFT Central ?

I've seen the AOC response time on a couple reviews being very high (30 ms +) and that's not good at all.

Got the Dell earlier, easy setup just install the software for the text to look good. No issues with lag that I have noticed, not sure if they have updated firmware/revisions but this is on par with my old TN Panel on response times (less than 12 ms). Colours are amazeballs, so is Dells Customer service.

There is quite a latency penalty on these 29" monitors when setting them to a non-native resolution it seems. I tested the q2963Pm alongside a CRT which could be set to a 2560 x 1080 resolution with zero delay as a point of comparison and it had very little input lag. PRAD.de also measured a similarly low input lag on the AOC using what I believe to be a rather accurate measuring setup. There does seem to be some inter-unit variation going on which was noted more specifically on some of the LG models. They had distinct different revisions with different input lag levels. And the Dell is also a very nice monitor and it's great and not surprising that you're happy with it. And to note for others reading this - AOC are actually surprisingly good in the CS department as well. :)

Perhaps the 5ms pixel response time is helping mask the frame skpping somewhat as its still lag.? I guess if it can be picked up in a photo, its still there, but anyhow 72hrz sounds like a brilliant sweet spot.
