Titanfall (Respawn Entertainment's new IP)

I enjoy this game, specially the fast paced combat but what is the point of the AI? like i take them down easily, multiplayer games like this for me are to kill other players thats where the skill is i dont understand it :S

You can hack the spectres and have them fight for you, they also rip through titans if left alone.

They are there as fodder, but they work, they have pretty smart AI at times.

It really is!

Uninstalled it about 2hrs ago now, it's just so damn stupid and the price they are charging as well

27 quid from simply games and on origin there was valentine codes that gave you 50 percent off. that made it 22.50. didn't buy :D

The auto pistol is awful against players, lol. It's not imbalanced, the point of it is to kill the AI grunts fast.

Also play hard point if you want to fight players and not AI.

Some of the textures are horrendous. I know it's a beta but when you're in the training simulator it looks horrible.

It looks like something that would easily be doable on the last generation of console nevermind the current generation. It'll be interesting to see the difference between the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions because on PC with all the graphical settings on their highest at 1920x1080 it looks like ass.

I've found the beta fun, for me it just single-handedly depends on the quality and quantity of maps. The ones in the beta are "ehh" to say the least, Angle City being my preferred one due to more opportunity of free running. The main problem I have is that the mechanics don't feel fleshed out enough. The burn cards seem a bit pointless half the time because you could activate one but die straight away, free running doesn't diverse so much from jumping between walls to gather speed, the AI are a bit stupid at times and I didn't know you could hack the spectres until now (but I don't think I ever will, they die easily anyway), and the titans, although cool to control and have their epic moments (especially when you get auto eject and nuke :D) feel underwhelming. My biggest complaint is titan fights are such a mess! I can hardly see what's going on, and punching on another is way too effective.

I'm enjoying it a lot but it doesn't feel like it is as big as devs think it is. I don't think it'll be the fall of any titans but it will be a welcome collection to my games list at about £15.

The main negative point for me is how bad the AI is. I'm in two minds about this - either Microsoft's cloud computing simply isn't yet powerful enough to provide good AI on a large scale, or it was done intentionally to appease bad players and therefore win their approval and wallet for the next releases in the franchise.

Played some more today, the 6v6 thing becomes a huge problem when you have an afk guy or even just 1-2 completely awful players you've got next to no chance of winning. Titan combat is too clunky and stupid. The vortex thing is too irritating and stupid.

Probably 90% of rounds I've been in are so painfully one sided to the point it's boring. It's kind of too fast a game to really snipe in. If you do snipe and find a spot, you end up getting very few points for the defence/offence so you can't, by the game's stupid scoring "do well" playing in anything other than mostly rush from one control point to another.

The bots, I understand that they are in there. As in, when you can call down titans which can work on AI, then surely your army would have basic ickle robots as well. I'm fine with that. THey should be if anything called down in the same way Titans are. Control points build up points you can spend on defence as well, so you can call down some rocket guys to shoot at Titans. In terms of artificially raising the number of players on a side, it's rubbish.

I feel like even with loads of maps it will mostly be identical almost every round. Too few people, to many defensive points, too many Titans, too gimmicky. It's fun now and then, and some stuff is nicely done.

I think at least 12v12, some WAY bigger maps to open up more strategies, to make sniping more viable and tweaking Titans more and it could be fairly decent. Don't think I'm going to buy it for more than £20 though.

I hope you realize that Microsoft's 'cloud computing' was a load of made-up baloney?

Oh. How's that?

Because they are just servers with ai, like every other game that has it - or without.
Servers which....are rented. We need to have player hosted dedicated servers back, games a decade ago all had them now they're had to come by but not non existant, because they want people to pay for it.

People need to stop thinking that companies, publishers, developers are going to create large systems to compute mass amounts of data for the benefit of the player without asking for money. It costs a lot of money to process all that information and power it/build it and it's not going to be given to us for free.

But people had the bandwidth to host their own back then let alone now.

Interestingly, there will be a multiplayer campaign!

Oh. How's that?

I have a Fibre connection that provides me with 4MB of data a second, anyone who thinks that 4MB/s of data is going to provide any meaningful improvement other than downloading and uploading stuff needs their head read. These consoles have memory speeds measured in Gb/s, Gpu's measured in TF's, but oh no, none of that matters its your 4MB/s internet connection and 32MB of Esram that will make all the difference.

The Battlefield series has been doing server side destruction calculations since Bad Company, that in itself is far more "Cloud Computing," than MS has actually shown since they started banging on about it.
