Hi, so this is a new build and my gtx470 memory is running at 837Mhz which is half what I'm expecting.

After running 3Dmark (which was a lower that expected score) I compared results and saw the other guy with the same rig had double the mem speed. So I went into the bios and ensured it was running PCI 2.0 and I get the same results.

I'm confused what's going on here...any ideas?

ASRock B75M
GTX470
i3 3220
500w OCZ PSU (could this be holding it back?)

Thanks in advance :)

no, 608 is core - memory bus is exactly half what it should be...I used the NVidia utility to adjust the speed - and no matter what speed I set to, the result is half.

I just sat through a 3Dmark (I usually go off an do something else) and I noticed the fan speed is either low or 100% (noisy) is that right?

Also the highest temp is 105 which seems too high...it's like the fan is sitting at normal speed and when the GPU hits 100 it's coming on full speed to get it back to a safe temp - the rinse and repeat with the ran running up every 10-15 seconds

Nvidia Utility (that's really old for NF2)?

Ok I had an Asus GTX 580, its specs were for Memory : 4008 MHz ( 1002 MHz GDDR5 )

GDDR5 is Quad Pumped so x4 but many Apps still read it like DDR/DDR2/DDR3 and you need to only x2 readings.

So are you really running 1685MHZ or 3348MHZ?

Your graphics score is 300 lower or there abouts, download msi afterburner and set the clocks.

The clocks not showing correctly could just be coincidence and you're CPU limited, I can't say either way.

GPU-Z reading needs be x4 so 3348MHZ and if a GTX80 was 4000MHZ what is a GTX470?

Edit : Asus GTX 470 Memory : 3348 MHz ( 837 MHz GDDR5 ) Bang on!!!

I just told you its correct in GPU-Z, 1/2 is some Apps and 1/4 in others.

Look at above post and go and read up on DDR-DDR5

so it's right? but why is my setup ~10% worse and why does his result show the mem bus is 1701!?

cheers, I'm going to try the set the same speeds and see what I get.

Still a bit worried about the temps (105) and fan going quiet to really loud with no ramp-up...is that normal?

thanks again guys :)

I cannot remember all the specs for all GPU's I have had but that card will start to throttle the speed at 105C Approx but varies from model and vendor.

You can see the limit if you capture the BIOS using GPU-Z, that would slow your card down and effect FPS and scores.

I would redo the TIM and have fan 100%, and no the fan should ramp up unless its locked in Afterburner or Precision to manual.
