GS5 to launch in January

So it boils down to the Premium metal S5 then I guess, this one is a no go as far as upgrading from a Note 3 goes in handset terms. IP67 isn't enough for a less professional and sleek design than N3,

I'm determined to hold out for the 4th Note anyway no matter what the s5 is like, I'm satisfied with my s4 but I recognise the superiority of the Note range and regret buying an S.

I like many, will be hoping that the Galaxy S 5 Prime is real. The S 5 looks like a bloated S3/4 obviously with a better spec.

Saying that we don't know the real spec of the phone yet so there may be some supprise to twist our arms.

The damage is already done

I hate to say it but I'm tempted to wait it out and hope Apple do something interesting with the iPhone 6. My 'nerdy' use of phones has dropped a lot lately and I'm mostly interested in build quality, camera performance and longevity. If Apple finally go up in screen size and achieve something resembling 'bezel free' I will be sorely tempted :(.

I'm hoping this is some sort of S4 refresh and then the main S5 has yet too be seen, like an S4 with new button layout, bigger screen, same internals as the Note3, then we get an S5 with all the new jazz.

People care what their phone looks like this much? It's hardly ugly is it? What do people use their phones for, staring at them with the screen off as an ornament? As long as it's comfy to hold does it matter whether or not it looks different?

that doesn't seem so great if its the s5, its bigger then the s4, i would like if was less bezel with a 5.25 screen while staying around s4 size, :(

lets wait and see

This your first trip to ocuk mobiles? ;)

It just seems a bit lazy you know, and going forward the internals aren't a huge jump forward so I think design, touch and feel well become more important.

It's not so much the look as the feel. My S3 feels very tired and just old now, nearly 2 years on. It's like the difference in interior build quality in cars, keeps them feeling so much fresher and solid even if underneath wear and tear is starting. It has a dramatic effect on how a device feels to use, I recently took the protective cover off my S3 and it had the weird effect of making it feel newer & faster!

i hope that's the waterproof version and also have a prime version, heres hoping ! , why are they getting bigger ? , i thought the note 3 was for people who want bigger phones, the s4 size is perfect, with less bezel sure could fit 5.25inch screen

Surely nobody wants the screen to get any bigger, and those that do will get a note or something. Honestly, why, its like they think they have to increase it each time for some reason.

I think Samsung would be exceptionally pleased to go the same way as Apple. The question is whether they can or not.

We all criticize Apple for their designs and the laziness, when Samsung appear to be guilty of that as well.

Here's hoping for a premium version :)
