iRacing

good result :D yea less n00bs on I assume  don't worry... I'll be home in about an hour so the n00bness will return :D

My pace at the glenn has improved a lot over the week. My best is now a 45.5 with my opt at a 44.9.

Finally got my 2k irating so pretty pleased with that.

I really want to win my GT3 division but honestly the way they do the points just seems a bit ridiculous. I understand the higher split the more points etc. but as my irating was around 1.2k at the start of the season I wasn't getting as many points.

The guy at the top has 24 starts 1 win and 9 top 5's.

I have 27 starts 7 wins and 16 top 5's but he is still 60 points ahead of me.

Nice times for WG, you're a good two seconds a lap faster than me.

At least in my last race I wasn't in the bottom split, but I did make a mistake that meant the guy behind hit me and I had 10 minutes of repairs. The damage to IR and SR was minimal though.

well another race another crash xD but at least not my fault xD went from #5 to finishing #15 :( boo

irating down...but SR up ;) and was waiting in pits while i trying to auto fill 20 gallons of fuel o.O note to self....disable that at start of 20 lap race as I have more than enough :p

New to Iracing here!

Installed last week and I have been driving the MX5 in the rookie races. Had some really fun races and a few very frustrating ones. Initially I kept having people crashing into me even when I thought I was driving safely. A few youtube videos and a few races later I discovered my racing line wasn't the line everyone else was using which seemed to explain the crashes!

Anyway after a week of racing It has put me into a D license. I think I did OK with the MX5. I feel quite comfortable driving it. I drove 16 races, had 9 top 5s and 2 wins. Haven't tried any time trails or qualifying yet however. I guess that is more important with the other cars?

I am now confused as to what to try next. I tried a lap or so with the Legends car on practice and really really struggled with no ABS and I could barely keep it on the track. Obviously practice is going to help but any suggestions as for what to do next would be appreciated. I don't like oval so would prefer to stick to road.

Thanks for any advice!

Stick with the MX5, no need to change class unless your bored.

Started using the legends last night, great fun so far. Will race in them later today.

Bah I hate the ups and downs of racing. Had a disastrous couple of races. One I was in the lead and dipped a wheel on the grass and losst it. Next race i was mid pack and was following a car for a few laps and I got the engine blown up, which on an endurance car in a 30 minute race is just ridiculous.

I'd go with that too.

You can get up to C licence with the MX5 in Grand Touring series, after that you can compete in the Ruf Cup and get you're B licence and then GT3 series.

I do wish the cars in iRacing were a little bit more realistically robust.

I've done a race tonight and to avoid a spun car I've gone onto the grass and very lightly brushed the barrier. I've ended up with wheel damage that means I'm holding the wheel at 90 degrees to go straight.

A total of 10 minutes in the pits and another race ruined.

I didn't even hit the barrier at an angle, it should have been light paint damage at the most.

I agree Barmy, though it would also make a lot of people turn the game in bumper car racing. The sever damage model is a good incentive for clean racing, though it often screws up the occasional race.

ouch :( yeah after one of the crashes the other night I was so close to the pits I decided to drive it... needed almost full lock to steer straight xD

but on a positive note I've just had my first incident free oval (i touched the barrier when someone snuck on my inside but was a x0 ;) ). started in 10th and ended in 7th :D managed to avoid a few spun out cars too :D happy result :)

a question though.... how do the championship points work week by week? as I noticed I've had a varying amount of points awarded each race. so I assume it just takes the best result from all the races you've done that week? though mines been on 35...but just got 51 points from this race and it's not moved... maybe needs time to update :p (EDIT: just updated to 51 points ;) )

SR and IR both went up....which is nice :)

Well I re subbed for a month see how I get on if I actually do more than one race ill resub to a 3 month :D

Anyone here racing the Mp4 or RUF in anthing. Not played in ages so dont want to jump straight in at the deepend and go back to teh Lotus 79 or Radical..

Sure I have a few of you off here on my list. SO would be nice to do some GT3 racing.

I'm racing in the GT3 series in the Ruf.

I'll be Mark J Turner on your list.

One more day of Watkins Glen, then it's 70 minute races at Road America for a week.

I have not had chance to play all weekend :mad::mad::mad:

Think im going to stick to the MX5 for a week or so and get my rating up, I really want to drive the RUF

Managed to finish on the podium last night after surviving the second corner carnage.
