How do you make your banking choice?

I'm with Natwest mainly because they had the best internet banking / phone app at the time. Don't know if they are still the best in this area but cba to change again.

Service and value - a lot of highstreet banks are staffed by idiots I find and if my bank manager is younger than I am I'm questioning the hell out of the caliber of people they aim to hire in order to manage my money for me.

I have a current account and savings account with HSBC and do all my business banking with them, I also support my local credit union. 3 credit cards with other companies but I rarely use them.

People were all up in arms a while ago about HSBC "Oh they launder drug money" well more power to them, someones got to launder the drug money haven't they? If we capitalise on every other aspect of human wants and desires, why not drugs.

Had endless problems with Nationwide and Natwest, briefly did Lloyds, all of them wronged me in some way so I said sod them, I'll take my money elsewhere.

+1 for First Direct. They gave me £100 to move (from HSBC) and no mashing of the keypad to get through a hateful auto-attendant.

I have 4-5 current accounts, use 1 as a main account then bounce some wages through the others and get the benefits from all.

I'm with or have been with Halifax, HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds and Natwest.

Halifax = Had since I was a kid. Now only have it for their Clarity Card.
HSBC = Student account and business account. Now both closed; their business team royally screwed us over and I moved my personal account when they introduced their stupid dongles.
Barclays = Current business accounts. Been ok so far, but in comparison business bank account service is terrible compared to personal which makes no sense given you have to pay for it.
Lloyds = My day-to-day current account. Also have a couple of their credit cards. Best bank I've been with by far.
Natwest = Old defunct count, really need to close it. Again, left them when they introduced their card readers to login.

On another note American Express are by far the best financial services company I'm a customer of.

im with barclays after hsbc screwed me over when i was younger. Barclays ive not had a problem with yet. I like them for their banking apps which are brilliant. Other than that they are all scum bags that will screw you if you hit hard times

Lloyds for everything....mainly because they were across the road from my flat when i lived there, they seem very good though. Except they tried to rip me off on life insurance but apart from that good.

Natwest since I became a student, won't leave unless they do something majorly wrong or another bank beats their mobile app.

Lloyds, because I trust them the most with regards to not going bust. Plus remember that although they received some of the government bailout in 2008 (but are doing well on paying it back), they only needed it because of buying HBOS as Gordon told them to - if Lloyds hadn't bought HBOS they wouldn't have needed a bailout.

That Santander 1-2-3 account looks good, but last time I had a Santander account, their customer service was friggin' awful.

I'm struggling to see how I can justify moving from Halifax tbh although the cashback is tempting.

Bank of Nigeria has my vote, they are constantly giving out free money and all they ask for is a copy of your passport !

I chose my current one based on the free stuff it gave you, but am about to change to a different one - First Direct looks extremely competative

I love my Amex cc. Brilliant phone service. Particularly a landline 01 contact option
Cash aback is great
Mobile banking is good shame I need another cc card tho for places which don't accept it

For banking I am with Halifax and santander

Going to close santander as I just find the whole system not nice and their products don't suit me
Probably switch to first direct

Love Halifax. Moved from nationwide to them because of card reader
Their new payee over the phone system is great.. Seriously I don't want to need my card for this!
5£pm reward is great of you keep savings elsewhere
