BBC 3 to go?

At least BBC4 has a few decent arts/culture programs once in a while. These could quite easily be shown on BBC2.

Both channels are a waste of space and they should close down both. Devote time, money and effort on just running two good channels. I can't see any reason to run two kids channels either.

Its not very good.

TV is over saturated these days, far too many channels sucking up resources that could be used for quality programming.
Good ideas and programs get lost in the sea of utter tripe that is broadcast.
BBC 3 is just another outlet burning money the company could use to do something other than show re runs of Homes under the hammer or what ever from 2010.

Same problem as in the states.

Can't say I'll miss it, the content is pretty dire.

If the BBC are serious about saving money, why the **** do they have news programmes throughout the day and that awful Breakfast guff, in addition to a dedicated news channel?

Bad Education is the only thing i've ever watched on it.

Will they just have a missing number, or move four down to three and confuse all of the old people that watch it? :p

Loads of stuff starts on 3 that ends up on 2 and 1. Or at least that's the theory. And means repeats of older series can be put on at good times for those that haven't seem them.

I've watched loads of comedy on 3 (that admittedly could have just been put on 2) but if there was only 2 channels, half of it wouldn't get commissioned. Although subjectively that's a good thing as half of it's crap, objectively, half of what did still get commissioned would be crap. It's taste after all. Half / half is doing well. Better to have 10 crap shows made for 5 good ones than 5 crap ones made for every 2 good ones.

I've no problem with 3. 4 on the other hand I was really looking forward to, but has been a let down for me. The content should be so much better. It's dry as a brick usually.

No loss to me at all, for all the bashing the BBC get they still produce a number of quality shows on 1 and 2, hopefully they will now have the resources to produce more quality.

Seems like a good decision to me considering some of the utter dross that's aired on there, its a shame that Radio 1 isn't going with it though.

i wouldnt mind if the whole bbc went, hundred and forty four pounds extra monies!

radio one has died
i hardly watch BBC 1 and 2 but i do actually watch a few things before bed on BBC3
i feel ripped off!

although i do have a very big thing (take that how you will) for ellie taylor on Snog Marry avoid (infact shes my favourite)..awaits bashing!

Why can i not chose to have BBC content? Sky can do it so why not the BBC? I think its pretty poor tbh that i cannot choose to simply not receive BBC OTA.
i would use 4OD etc if my connection was capable of such feats!

I can count on one hand the number of things I watch on BBC channels and still have fingers spare, so on a personal level this doesn't really bother me. That said, BBC Three does seem to be a platform for launching new comedy shows etc so that'll be a shame.
