Titanfall (Respawn Entertainment's new IP)

Titanfall will have free/paid DLC and season pass.

We'd also heard that the game may include a season pass, which Zampella confirmed. "We're going to do paid DLC. We're also going to do free updates. There are things that we want in the game that we didn't get to ship in the final game. So we'll add private matches and things like that for free. There will be some paid DLC. We're going to do a season pass just because if you buy it up front, it's a deal. We're not going to do microtransactions. You just buy it up front, and you get a better price."

So the game is not finished - incomplete modes which oooh they are going to give players free anyway.

Preordered yesterday from CDkeys. That 20+Gb download will be hell :( Hopefully they'll let us download early and then just make it available to play after 00.00 rather than then have to download

They still keep developing the game after it goes gold and sent for publication. What they make is then classed as DLC. Why do people have a problem with that? Bethesda did the same thing with skyrim as they were making their first DLC expansion pack to the game when it was launched, yet no one batted an eyelid at that. The difference is, this company told you thats what they are doing, instead of being "underhand" about it...

All well and good if it is released 6 months to a year after the main game. What do you bet this new DLC will more or less be available on release of the main game?

That's my problem with it. If the game wasn't finished then don't release it till it is finished. Don't Charge me an extra £20 for 'new' content that they could have put in the original game to start with.

It is profiteering, plain and simple.

So a company should just stop developing more content for a game as soon as it hits gold because people will think its profiteering if they finish around the launch of the game? These studios have tonnes of staff, so why would anything take more than a month or two to be made for the game in terms of "add on" anyway?

That's what i'm doing, I got the Borderlands 2 Season Pass for like £7. I doubt the Titanfall pass will go that low.
