Hi guys.

I recently ordered the msi gaming 290x and it doesn't post at all. The fans still spin so it must be a signal problem. At further inspection I noticed the plastic switch to select the bios wasn't there. Devastated by this and so worried that I won't get a replacement. I hope the rma process it easy :(

I'm using a Gigabyte G.1 Sniper.

I have set up an RMA and returning the gpu tomorrow. Since i review games for a living i hope a replacement can be found soon.

Surely considering it's not that old, i will get a new replacement, or will it go to msi?

If card is new you should get a replacement, did it come from overclockers?
Also as pointed out,you should check for any new mb bios, think a few gigabyte users have needed a bios update for r290.

Yep the card is brand new, ordered it 3 days from overclockers, and just tried it now. Now I'm so wary about changing the gpu bios to gamer mode, because this one had a snapped switch. I'll try a bios update now.

Just done a bios update and tried windows via the internal mobo and it works perfect. So it must be the card. I know they all have bios switches, but when i looked closer at this card it's just flat piece without the actual plastic switch. Perhaps it has snapped off in delivery or something? Whatever the case, I only just noticed this when looking at the card for obvious defects. Or perhaps it's a bad one from the factory, and the switch wasn't installed properly.

This experience does make me very anxious about using the switch and alternating between mode.

I'd send the card back if the bios switch has been snapped off....doesn't matter if the card works or not...its damaged....send it back...shouldn't be paying £400+ for a damaged product

exactly, i mentioned this on the phone about sending it back because i was worried about couriers and the high price of this item. Overclockers did say to send it special delivery and they will refund up to £12.50 in shipping which was a professional and welcome gesture.

So far their CS has been impeccable.
