Yes: If you've done a previous buying role then yes please apply!
Yes: If you have good hardware/product knowledge but have never being in a purchasing role before, then yes please do apply. Product knowledge can be very valuable and the buying side of this role well that is something you can learn.

Ive applied before, but will give it an other try when I get home tonight :)

Would love to work in the computer hardware industry and basically you can probably keep most of the wages as Ill buy stuff lol.

This is very tempting, I've been considering a change of career. Having to relocate though, and when I lived in Shelton I hated it!

One thing I would say is that it say you could/should apply if you have product knowledge even if you have no experience (unless I mis-read?) but I don't think it actually mentions which products it will be concerning.
I can't be the only one that considers myself to have reasonable know of some products but little to no real knowledge of others can I?

Judging from your signature, you have the right mindset to either know about the products, or have an understanding of other technologies that you could learn :)

There's obviously a need for a second one as their demands have increased so much.

I mean its sad to see giants like Comet go and its brother Curry dying :( but e-retailers are the way forward :( Miss you Comet

Gibbo is purchasing manager so he has overall responsibility for all buying and think of him as head buyer.

However a buyer/product manager is responsible for his or her group of products such as monitors, or GPUs, mobos etc. Just like you see currently, everyone has there own special field of interest and responsibility.
