Hi all,
Having been a long time lurker, I thought it would be a good idea to finally join up and make use of your expertise.
After being disappointed with the so called 'next generation' of consoles (and the overinflated price of games compared to PC), I have decided to tread down the dark scary path of PC gaming once again.
I have come up with the idea for the machine based on posts I have been reading on here over the last few weeks.
If someone could just sense check it for me before I click the Buy button, I would really appreciate it.
OK, here's my basket:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11227-00-40G) £347.99
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £239.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard with *FREE COOLERMASTER SEIDON 120V COOLER £143.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD316G2133HC11ADC01) £129.95
1 x Corsair Vengeance K95 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red Switch (CH-9000020-UK) £129.95
1 x Corsair Carbide 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case - Black (CC-9011030-WW) £129.95
1 x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £99.95
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £79.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £74.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £65.99
Total : £1,484.14
So 16mb of memory - yeah a little over the top but then again, I thought that when I got 4gb for my current machine several years ago!
My only concern is the Power Supply. On the build I based it on, it used the 1000W version. Will the 750W be OK?
I don't intend to overclock and will be running games at 1080p but (hopefully) with everything set to Ultra.
Budget - around £1.5k.
Would appreciate any comments/suggestions. Thanks!
