Hi im looking for some advice...I have a,

phenom 2 955
4GB of DDR2
ATI 5770
Corsair H50 Cooler
corsair TX 650 PSU

i am looking for a reasonable upgrade maybe spending around £400-£480..i have these items in mind ..

AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 AMD 990FX (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard
Sapphire Radeon R7 265 Dual-X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Corsair Vengeance RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel

All this is around £450,Would i see a great improvement in gaming with these products?and also would i be able to keep and use my Corsair H50 cooler and Corsair TX 650 psu with these items?..If anybody has any alternatives (Motherboard,CPU,GPU and RAM) ect, that might save me a few quid then that,d be most helpful.Any advice would be absolutely brilliant as i am a bit of a tech newbie..cheers folks

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Done a slight re-spec:

Saved some money by going with the 8320 cpu & lower motherboard.

Upped the GPU to the 270x. Your Corsair cooler and PSU will be ok :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 270X DEVIL 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £163.99
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £109.99
1 x Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD 990FX (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £101.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99

Thank you RJC..sorry i forgot to add i live 10 mins away from overclockers so shipping would,nt be required..What kind of extra Bang for buck would i get between Your Powercolor Radeon R9 270X DEVIL 2048MB GDDR5,and the Sapphire Radeon R7 265 Dual-X 2048MB GDDR5,and what kind of difference is there between the AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor that you,ve added and the AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition 4.00GHz,that i mentioned..Thank you once again RJC.:)...ps also the MB says " Support for DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz"so would the dual channel 2400mhz be ok? Told you im a tech newbie ha ha ;)

The 8350 is just running faster at stock but the 8320 can be overlcocked to the same speed and above saving you some money.

The 270 is slightly faster at stock:

Thank you all guys youv,e certainly give me something to think about :) will the Arctic silver 5 thermal compound 3.5g be good enough for the paste?

How easy/hard will it be to put all together..ive heard that nowadays most stuff is like "plug and play" i know my way a little around the system but ive never put one together..is it just a matter of maybe Taking photo(s) of my system as is now and then putting the components in..does the MB basically tell you where each part goes? sorry if it seems like a daft question Lads..Cheers

Watch a couple of videos and read the mobo manual, it shows you where everything goes. Make sure you build in a clear area, kitchen table is where I build mine. And only open up boxes and such when you are ready to install that particular component.

And keep the boxes and package, makes selling items easier and you also have something to put them in should you need to RMA an item for any reason.

MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming Edition OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card and the MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming Edition OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card..Price being an extra £22 quid..Thank you Guys

I would go for the i5 processor if you can - better for gaming and you can overclock them easily.

Also would go for the 4GB 270X as some games use over 2GB on ultra, like BF4 and Crysis3 I expect does. But I suppose you wouldn't be running those games at ultra settings on that card anyway so the 2GB one might be fine.

Thanks WalderX and my Corsair H50 cooler and Corsair TX650 (from my 1st post above) would be fine with I5 and 4gb msi card ? thanks in advance

Ok guys i Think im gonna go for the Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor.and a MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming Edition OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card, can anyone recommend a decent MB and 8GB of DDR 3..looking at a budget between £400 and £500...and Can my Corsair H50 cooler and Corsair 650 tx manage the Intel I5 and 2GB GPU,any recommendations will be most helpful Thanks..

Something like this would be ok. The Motherboard allows crossfire should you wish to add a 2nd gpu anytime.

Your current cooler and psu will be fine.
