I'd travelled to my mum's (about 10 miles away) to fix her PC last night, and left my fiancee home alone. She was loading the dishwasher around 10.30pm and noticed our 11 stone Bullmastiff staring at the back door. She opened it expecting him to want to go out, but was met by a man dressed all in black approaching the back door from our patio.

Our garden is surrounded by 6' fencing and we are in a block of terraced houses, so he had no good reason to be there. He froze for a split second at the surprise of being found, which was long enough for our Hatton to barge my Mrs out of the way and grab the guy (he ran so hard at the fella that he knocked my fiancee over en route).

She instinctively slammed and locked the back door, and said what followed was the most horrifying noises she's ever heard coming out of a dog. He ragged the scumbag all over the garden before the guy unfortunately managed to get over a fence into next door and make his escape. The garden is a mess and there are drag marks everywhere... The shed was busted open but nothing was taken, and the police said they're keeping their eye out for a scally with dog bites haha. I don't think he'll be trying our house again, somehow.

Good lad.

Fantastic. I can't think of anything more terrifying than being attacked by a Bullmastiff. Except maybe having my leg made love to by one.

11 stone? You sure your dog didn't eat the burglar?

:)

M.

haha I didn't think of that. :p

Prepare to get sued by the burglar for injuries caused by your dog :p

He could try lol... The police's attitude was very much one of 'He's saved us a job, shame he didn't keep hold of the **** long enough to do proper damage'. Then again, maybe he DID eat him. :D

good effort by the dog... Imagine if your Mrs was home alone without a dog....

hope the scumbag has some serious injuries/plenty of stitches needed in A&E as a result
