steam just gone down?

hey guys,

my steam account just went offline and now wont re-connect, my internet connection is fine and nothings changed, anyone else got the same?
 
Was down for me too an hour ago, couldn't view the website through browser either. I restarted and still had no luck, Internet was working fine. Had a few windows updates pending so did all those and restarted and it then connected so I managed to game for a bit.
 
Same for me.

I had the same issue last night too - I changed my password and was able to log in after a few tries, but with hindsight I think that was just the servers coming back on stream.

Won't connect for me, keep getting a box telling me that I'm either not connected to the internet or my networks isn't configured correctly for Steam.

Now I know it's a generic box, but why do all these sort of things try to blame the user's internet connection rather than just telling the truth about the service in question being down?
 
When steam is down, can you still select the option to play offline and still play a game? I'm sure I did that last time and it worked fine, earlier though it wasn't having it.
