I did things the same way as the OP... got the GPU horse power first then got a 1440p monitor,
yes well we all know your different Almighty, if we say black we all know you will say white

My eyes are open thank you and im not wasting time arguing with you, if you call the below results as superior then i guess your right and im wrong, but by definition this is far from superior, i only know of 2 games that are better optimized for 8 core, i know of ZERO game that use hyperthreading, waste of money just for gaming, but if thats floats your boat then bang tidy

OP, did you go from AMD to Intel? If so, how are you finding it?
And when you come out with things like that it's obvious that you don't know what you're talking about and are not worth having a conversation with.
Yet you are doing just that
You said Battlefield, Crysis 3 and a few others all show the i7 is superior then the i5
I then proved otherwise and backed it up and yet you still claim its me that know what im talking about, when i clearly all i said was i dont know of any games that are optimized for HT is because i dont, not the same as say they are not out there!

You didn't prove otherwise really (Not that Almighty has explained the point very well), as I've explained, it requires upper GPU grunt to create a bottleneck on an i5 in those handful of games, 64 player multiplayer on 7970 Crossfire yields differences between an i5 and i7.
There's only a few select situations upon which there are differences (None of them are shown in your link, due to the GPU limit of a single 7970)
And, something that can use 8 threads/cores, can use HT...
See, I don't believe this monitor thing (Because lets face it, 60HZ 1080P is the most common set up, so everyone saying they see gains, well guess what they're likely running? Yet, 1080p 60HZ monitors) as such, sure, you won't "See" those extra frames, but you're rendering far more frames = Less frame latency etc, and minimums are almost certainly going to be higher.
I'll be interested to see if you see gains.
I hope you did loads of tests before you disassembled the FX
The upgrade has obviously melted the OP's brain with the difference its made![]()
Well I've don't benches on Firestrike and getting over 3500 point over what I had with my 8350 thief has seen a big increase also, all I can say is I'm pleased I made the switch and can definite tell the difference much more smoother gameplay experience.
Not really sure how else to put it. I am not drawing the conclusion that the FX 8-cores don't bottleneck systems. Far from it, I've always said they do but there are many single GPU systems that will not be significantly bottlenecked even in seemingly poorly threaded games (WoW).
Good choice of CPU OP. I'm totally happy with mine. As I am with my FX 8-core.
