As title what things must I do n in vegas and any recommendations on decent travel insurance. Have to shoot guns and eat loads of massive meals and buffets what else is a must

Jet skiing on Lake Mead behind the Hoover Dam. Helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Dune buggy action in the Mojave Desert. Oh, and gambling and hookers.

If by close you mean half a day away then yes.
Recommendations for stuff to do depends on how long you are there for.

The Grand Canyon proper is 100s of miles away is it not.
If you mean the place with the skywalk that's not officially the Grand Canyon

Sky diving arranged from the strip. Shooting guns on tropicana avenue. Make sure u ride the big shot and the other rides on top the stratosphere hotel. Hire car and get out to Grand Canyon.
If you found it boring after 3 days you sir are the thing which is making it boring.
The shear amount of stuff you can do which isn't related to gambling is unreal
We spent 6 full days there, only gambled for a total of 2-3 hours and had activities planned morning, noon and night. Could have easily done more if we were there for longer.

This. Everyone automatically assumes I went there for gambling and drinking, but the reality is that there are loads of other fun things to do besides those two. Last time I went, it was for two weeks (with a short trip to LA in the middle) and for me it wasn't even close to being long enough. Permanently would be nice.
