GoogleAccount Hacked - £350.00 Stolen

Hopefully this will all get sorted but seems my account was nicked. Somebody somewhere took 5 payments of 69.99 from my credit card between 6:30 and 9:30 this morning for something called Chest of Gems (Clash of Clans).

Not nice, credit card company said I had to contact google, google said I had to contact the credit card company.

It looks like the only had my gmail details not the actual payment details as soon as I changed my password the payments stopped going out. After finding somebody to speak to at google (not an easy task) it looks like they will investigate.

Pretty miffed especially with the credit card company. Lesson to self : never leave credit card details online again.

Sorry dude, but I really needed to speed up the research on my barbarians.

A similar sort of thing happened to me a few years back with iTunes. Only difference is that mine was a Debit Card. NatWest and Apple both refused to do anything despite taking it as far as I could through the complaints process, this was about £100 or so. Quite a lot when you're a student.

It's a pain in the arse, I wish you luck. You'll be find with a credit card though.

Was it a Visa Debit card? If so the rules are actually pretty similar to those of a a CC.

Happened to me with Itunes but they gave me the cash back on an exceptional basis as a once only deal.

I didn't have account details on it but someone hacked my account and spent the 67$ of itunes cards i'd loaded up.

Strange thing is apple let me keep the games and songs.

I believe it was a Visa Electron at the time? Few years ago now though, but each party just blamed the other.

All I know is, iTunes support has a lot to learn from the general Apple customer service you can get.

Well I have two step verification now. I never wanted to do it as I didn't want Google to know my phone number! In hindsight as soon as I logged onto my phone they new my phone number anyway. Silly me.

It's ok. Google's had my mobile number for 2-step login for a couple of years now and I don't get cold calls etc off them. They just use it for 2-step. Same with Paypal's 2-step.

I'd steal for World of Warcraft too.

Fixed :p

Sucks - been hacked before and lost a mere ~$15 though. The tough part was losing access to all those email accounts. Strangely, I was the luckiest person that day and in a way or another came in contact with my hacker who agreed to give me access to my emails back if I forgive him for the money he took.

This is exactly why i use a no fees pre-load debit card for the likes of play store. I only put money on it when i am going to buy something.

Sorry, this Google Account was it for like paying Google Drive? I only ever used Google Checkout before and I know it doesn't exist any more so wondering if Google Drive is the only thing it'd be used for?

Log into your account on your pc and go to your account security look for device specific passwords.
