Facebook to buy Occulus Rift :/

Wonderful... now I can get all those Candy Crush Saga notifications when I'm in VR.... just what I always wanted.

2 thousand million dollars. That's not bad for a product that doesn't even have an official release date.

Would have been nice if during crowd funding they'd offered shares in the company to donors. Quite a few people would have been made very rich today.

Something to do with glasses, no doubt, in competition with Google. Soon we won't even have to have computer monitors.

why type to your friends when you can pop on glasses see them and interact with them. thats why. gaming------------- out window.

facebook just went future.

If steam had the cash to invest, it would have been a really cool gimmick to advertise the steambox with. Not sure what facebook are going to do with this, cant help but feel this exciting product will be somewhat wasted, not that i ever really wanted one for more than just for the sake of trying it out.

Surely that means OR is dead to hardcore gamers and will be just used for the million twee casual games on FB or VR stalking people who dont fancy you? Unless they license this out to games developers.....about to get an epic kill in Crysis 4 when..."Hello, its been a while since youve visited Facebook, your friends miss you..."

FUUUU!!!

Valve is very rich, but I'm not sure they are rich enough just to splash out 2 billion.

Great. I'm already going to feel like a nob when i fit the occulus rift on my head, but now facebook is going to announce this along with pictures with close ups of my eyeballs

I was very close to ordering the DK2, now I don't think I will.

I wasn't looking forward to the Sony PS4 ONLY VR headset as I game on my PC.

I am truly gutted, I thought this was a great advancement in gaming by people who loved games, obviously not! :(

Just money whores as usual.

All depends on how this is managed. If Palmer luckey and his team can continue the development and contact building without any meddling from Facebook then the buyout and money may see the consumer version hitting the market earlier
