Dark Souls II Gameplay Tips and Spoiler Thread

Yeah seems quite a simple fight but I suck at this game :D had a few goes of the spider boss aswell, 3 tries got it to 10% and died right at the last hurdle.

behind the right side pillar against the wall (if your facing the boss door) you will find a npc summon, he takes most of the attention away from you, so you can run around between her legs, kill off the spiders and poke at whichever head you need to.

Don't worry about the small spiders as they can be easily ignored. The best way to do it is it bait out it's laser attack (it will put it's two front legs in the the air and lift it's body up) then run through it's side legs to the back head and get in two hits and run away. Repeat. That's how I did it, I found focusing too much on killing the small spiders got me killed.

That was one of the bosses I did with a summons (as I was aiming for 30 Sunlight Medals) and I have to admit it was really easy with 2 people. Like with most bosses, as soon as you recognise the attack patterns it simply becomes a case of not making a mistake.

After reading a little of the guide I'm not 100% sure if I want to go through NG+ or start a new character again. The changes to NG+ sound interesting (and difficult) enough to make it worthwhile going straight through again. My next new character will be a solo playthrough I reckon, no summoning at all. Should be interesting as I definitely think some bosses are designed with multiple players in mind.

I haven't used any summons so far (have about four bosses left, three of them optional) as I much prefer to do it myself the first time through. This did mean I came back to the Gargoyles at SL100 though :p.

As for NG+, the more enemies more challenge mentality doesn't sit right with me. It just feels like artificial difficulty rather than and challenging but fair fight.

I understand where you're coming from, but I think with some bosses I can appreciate why they would change it. Some bosses have been exceptionally easy (like the Flexile Sentry), and if they didn't add an extra challenge, they could quadruple his health and attack power and it wouldn't make a difference. He simply wouldn't hit me, it would just be a long boring fight. At least if there's something different it'll force me to come up with different tactics.

I'll give it a whirl anyway. I don't think I'm quite as far into it as you (I've just beaten the Mirror Knight in Drangleic Castle), but I'll probably have it beaten by the weekend so I'll make a decision then.

In my opinion the boss is still the easy chump he's always been though, it's just got two massive distractions that get you killed instead. I wish they'd just improve the bosses AI to make the fight harder such as being more aggressive and giving them a couple of extra moves to make it harder to heal or get a hit in.

Have fun in the next area by the way, be sure to bring a bow and a magic resistant shield. Joint worst area in the game for me the area after the Mirror Knight.

LOOKING GLASS KNIGHT! :p

You are about the same as me it looks like, though I have just done the next boss as well.

I quite liked it tbh. Probably one of my favourite areas, though there have been a few duffers.

Overall though, I have been disappointed on the quality of the different areas in this game. Whereas DS had some brilliant, some awful, this game seems to have just all average imo. Nothing spectacular.

What's your build though? I can imagine it being much easier with a dex build and a bow. I was using a strength build and chipping their health away slowly with a bow which made it hell :(.

Is that the one in the house to the left of the big hole? I keep checking and he's never got much. Might be because I'm not as far as you. Just beat the Jabba the Hut demon who was stupidly easy :D

Might respec tonight as I need to add a bit more strength and intelligence to my character, currently a high dexterity, endurance and vigor Bandit.

Thats the one mate :) i just went back and brought something, quit and reloaded and did that to catch up to date with what he stocks :) get his dialogue too as his character changes as he becomes more successful :)

Anyone tried the twinblades yet? I've got the Dragonrider Twinblade, and even though the base stats don't look too impressive, it hits quickly and often and can take enemies out quickly. As it hits so fast, it's an ideal weapon to add Poison or Bleeding too (I went for poison). Seemed fairly useful in PvP as well, as the poison buildup will take opponents by surprise (and when they retreat to heal, they get a Great Lightning Spear to the face).
