Is it fair that I was excluded from college?

You knowing more about IT than them isn't an excuse to run roughshod over their rules.

I keep thinking you're getting this, and then you come back to the thread with another post which makes out you're the victim. If that's the attitude you go into this hearing with, you're screwed.

I use different attitudes in different places at different times. The attitude I am using here is just me venting, the attitude I will be using at the hearing will be a sane, calm and apologetic speech.

My currently incomplete speech.
-------------------------------------------------------
What I did couldn't cause damage and wasn't a virus. My interpretation of a virus is a program that spreads across networks of computers infecting them, this program was nothing more than a few lines of code that loads up a full screen image of the Blue Screen of Death.

I didn't mean to cause any harm or worry you misjudged the situation, it was intended as a harmless prank and I recognise why it caused concern and I will not repeat such actions. I didn't understand the outcome of this because I have seen several other students also run pranks on teachers computers and those were taken as a laugh and a joke.

Just incase you need to know exactly what the program does I have a copy of the source code printed out.

I have amended to paragraph 2. "If I am let back into college I will be an example student and set a good example and wont judge what is okay to do by following the crowd."

Yes I have the code and everytime I have been diciplined they've never known fully what they are talking about. For example at school I bypassed the firewall to get onto youtube for my research and I was told I commited a crime, I commited no crime! All I did was broke their Use of IT policy which isn't a crime nor is it a law.

You see the thing is here... School rules in a school environment are, to all intents and purposes, the law. Your attendance requires that you at least appear to adhere to them, no matter how tedious or ridiculous they seem to you. Failure to do so carries consequence. No matter how unfair or out of proportion you believe this to be. That's the rub. They make the rules, you follow them. If you don't, then your continued attendance or non becomes entirely their prerogative.

So arguing with them over anything is entirely pointless. You cannot argue that you've followed their rules which is the issue. Not virus definitions or IT literacy. They're entirely irrelevant. Your only chance at redemption is to show how contrite you are and convince them you've seen the light and they are entirely right to have followed their course of action. Then beg them for another chance and if they're kind enough to give you one, don't **** it up again.

It still reads as if you're trying to shift the blame. They don't care what your interpretation of a virus is or whether you think it was ok because other students got away with it. You also try to shift the blame to them with "you misjudged the situation".

You don't need to show them that you're right and they're wrong, you don't need to show them how "clever" you are, you need to convince them you're not going to do it again.

Can't do the time don't do the crime.

Why is this nonsense in SC anyways ?

It doesn't matter. Those policies are sacresanct, it's above and beyond the law as far as you're concerned. You breached the policy, they can throw you out.

Would an apology definately work? I have a slight feeling I've gone way overboard by now and if I have what other options do I have? I have done it twice so it should be hammered into me by now.

I was actually kept into an isolated environment for years so when it came to me starting college I had an awful lot of common sense to build up and I still struggle to see logic but I am slowly picking it up along the way.

Do you have any medical conditions? Given that you were kept in isolation and have a history of repeat offending yet being unable to understand why you are being punished, along with your comments about learning common sense and struggling to see the logic might hint that there are underlying issues for your behaviour.

If that's true and you don't address that, you'll just be in the same position wherever you go or whatever you do when you decide that the rules are stupid or don't apply to you.

I've seen plenty of people get sacked from jobs for misuse of email etc on a first offence, you seem to have a history littered with deliberate rule breaking so it's hardly surprising they're coming down hard on you.

I don't thnk rules don't apply to me because of a condition. I was put in a special school and had my education failed because I was kept right down to the level of people who can't even talk, walk, etc despite me being way more capable of learning at a higher level. I remember I kept begging them to let me walk to school and let me off my medication which was doing nothing but ****ing me up until I burst into a rage and started beating my mum up with the container of pills that she kept forcing me to take every morning, she never gave them to me again and after that I went from an emotionless zombie that seemed depressed to someone who a great sense of humour and who according to my surroundings passes as NT. I was also an ultra slow learner on those tablets and now I am learning quickly about a number of subjects.

I was recently handed a sheet of paper by college and they said "Why does this sheet of paper state you started college with no qualifications?".

This is going to be of no use, you've got to find a way to apologise and get them to believe that this time you won't mess up again and then actually carry it through.
They have no reason to believe you will become a model student because this isn't the first time they've had to pull you up on something.
Also as I said earlier don't try and pull the "but someone else was doing it too line" it just makes you sound like a child who can't stand by their actions.
You messed up, you're sorry, it has nothing else to do with anyone else, and you want one final chance to prove you can change and be a good student.

Not sure if this is in the right place and I am quite new here but I was excluded for faking a BSOD on a tutors computer and needed an opinion from technical minded people. The BSOD was classified as a Trojan Horse by the college, yes it is an executable file that fakes a BSOD.

The thing is several students have been full screening pictures of a BSOD on tutors computers as well as putting up Google mavity as a laugh and a joke and the teachers took it as a laugh and a joke but when I did the same thing except with a piece of VB code I wrote they classified it as a virus, told me I commited a crime and excluded me.

I know I have violated the Computer Misuse Act 1998 but so have they by putting BSOD pranks on tutors machines without authority to do so. Due to this I think it is extremely unfair that I was excluded and was wondering what I could do, I am already on stage 3 which means I am close to being permanantly excluded from college, they have sent me home and took my ID card off of me while they open up an investigation and what has ****ed me off the most is that I've had to walk home because non of the buses would accept my student bus pass without my college ID card and I had no cash on me.

Please help I need support! This is vital to my future, the last dicipinary I had I had to sign a contract stating that I would use the computers sensibly but if they can do a BSOD prank on tutors and it be taken as a laugh and joke then what is the meaning of sensible?

Totally FAIR!!

BEHAVE! after all college is free! and yet you guys still mess around!
I'd have you kicked off the course and it given to someone who really want's a future!

If this isnt a blatent troll then....

OP is a tool and obviously didnt learn from his previous warning and thought he would eb cool to be in with the "cool kids" and continue the practise of ****ing about.

I'm so proud to know people like you are the future of our country when you cant even take education seriously and your attitude is poor.

Zero sympathy
