How many of you out there have been unlucky by getting a poor overclocking 4770k,it seems I'm one of them who can only get 4.3 stable so who out there his in the same boat?

I didn't try overclocking my 4770k much.
It's still on air so 4.2 is perfectly fine.
I'll see how bad it is next week, when I instal watercooling :)

Whilst mine isnt too bad a clocker per se, (1.27v for 4.5ghz). Its a very hot runner if stressed with synthetic loads. Much more so than my old 3770k at the same speed but on 1.34 vcore.

Mines not a great clocker but does suffer from heat issues.
I'm currently able to run 4.3GHz at 1.175v, but even then it can get quite toasty using synthetic benchmarks. Usually get 60-70ºC when video encoding depending on ambient (and it's watercooled!).
I think I was able to get 4.4GHz using around 1.26v but didn't really test stability much as the temperatures were silly.

Trying to get up the courage to de-lid the chip when I re-do my waterloop to add my GPUs in.

I was very tempted to delid mine a few nights ago. Had the system broke down to transfer into a new case, but couldnt pluck up the courage to do it.

I've a half decent chip.

4.5Ghz at 1.2Volts stable, I've not even bothered trying to go lower or up the GHz. Prior to delidding it I ran 1.16Volts for 4.2Ghz. I'm sure if I could be bothered I could get a massive clock.

Happy with the balance of speed/voltage and temps as it is though.

so what stress tests do you recommend,@4.3 ive dropped volts down to 1.239 and i may be able to go lower.

Stress tests are lame. Just run some video encoding and use the PC for what you want.

Who cares if Intel Burn Test crashes it when it would never ever crash otherwise in day to day use?

Mines pretty good. i5 4670k.
Can't remember my 4.6Ghz volts but my 4.4Ghz were 1.24 volts - solid as a rock.

Interesting, I took a gamble and bought a OEM version chip rather than retail. Glad I did!

You don't care so you whitewash the unreliability aspect but I find it a good guide.

I'm not really keen on the odd game crash or system crash or other program issue by choking the processor of the voltage it needs so I'm happy to go with stable for a long stress test with several programs plus a notch.

With system stability vs bragging rights I go for the one that keeps me and the computer happy.

i'm happy with my chip, just testing new bios so thought i'd post a screenshot
