Asus 290X

Well, I just sold my 280X on ebay and got a sad 165 quid for it. Was expecting a little more but what can you do! It was a Asus brand too

Anyway, after selling it I paid for a 290x of course the Asus one for its cooling and used the money from the 280x to help.

It should be here on tuesday, Can't wait to get my hands on AMDs flagship card!
Anyway my question was, I struggle on some games at 1440p and I am expecting to have no issues at all with the new 290x, Could anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Depends on the games, the settings you use and what you consider "issues" to be.

If you are expecting 60+ fps at all times on ultra settings at 1440p, you are going to be disappointed on a number of games.

I have a 290X+3930K here and play on my 1440P screen with all details set to max.

There are a couple of games that will make you dip to low fps but I think most should run nicely at a high level.

But are there huge differences between the 280x and 290x that was worth me getting it?

They're going for 150ish atm, 290s are going for 230 currently, hoping they get to 200 then i might grab a few from the smarter miners (ones who use frames)

Just cant understand that. Sapphire R290 Tri-x 2-3days ago £299.99, your Asus 290X £434, difference in performance 5-10%. Difference in price....ouch.
