hi there,
missus lost her phone last night but had located it (dead) outside my house, after half hour of scouring the road no luck. This morning she has located it again and it's turned up in Standish (23 miles so entirely realistic)

It's now charged as i can phone it, and the icon is green as opposed to grey last night.

I'm working 11-10 today so i've got no time to get there but am planning on going up tomorrow morning(this is providing the signal stays in the same place) I have an exact address having located it.

What would be the best course of action/procedure? As said, I'm planning on going up tomorrow and stating that my mrs has lost her phone, located it to this address, really glad you've found it, something like that. If they turn me away could i get the police involved?

Just to note, the phone is passworded, shes also changed other passwords saved on the phone (facebook twitter, no bank details on there luckily)

My other thoughts are that they obviously have a cable, as the phone is now charged last night was dead, yet why haven't they removed the sim card, or restored the phone?

thanks all

Send a message to the phone saying there's a reward for it's return, say there's irreplaceable photos on there or something to keep their interest.

Turn up, collect phone, bestow 50p reward on would-be thief, take picture of their face using phone. Post results here.

Being the devils advocate maybe the person has honestly found it, put it on charge in hopes that the owner may phone it and reclaim it? They may not be at home currently and not seen the missed call. Just go round and ask, if they say they don't have it or wont hand it over then call the non emergency number.

Yeah have thought of that, fingers crossed

Interesting.

If it's stolen the thief is not very bright I'd say lost and found.

I had my wallet pinched last year but someone handed the cards back to the police.
However my son left his Ipod at the pick n mix counter in the cinema and the time it took to realise and walk/jog back the 30 meters to the counter the thing was gone. :(

It's luck as to who has found it.

I'd love for this to end well. I'm getting far too cynical about the state of humanity and need to be swung the other way before I get too bitter!

Updates when you can mate!

I'd hazard a guess to say OP rolled up to the address/got in contact with whoever has it and got the phone back.

If this got juicy, I would imagine we'd have an update by now. Hope it ended well either way!

A long story short i then tracked the phone to an address round near my house, so went door-knocking. no one had heard anything then the morning after a neighbour came over and had 'found it in the street' I'd walked this road up and down for probably around 45 minutes over the two previous nights, and apparently his son had been trying to sell the phone in the pub.

But, phone has been returned to rightful owner in identical condition to when it left. New sim card as we blocked the old one :)

For more indepth, i was regularly updating a thread on another forum.

Here's the thread. http://www.avforums.com/threads/iph...s-all-who-posted.1871876/page-4#post-20569717

Ah well at least it ended well. Unfortunate that the threat of discovery made them return it but hey ho.
