Is it possible to control 3 pin fans with a controller? If anyone could recommend me one if that's the case it would be great.

I've got 5 fans constantly running at the moment and it can be quite noisy. I'd like the option to turn 2 off when not needed - if I an achieve this without a controller (and not having to plug / unplug every time I need them) that would be great!

yes it is exactly what I'm doing right now.
i'm using this:

it's perfect for my needs, 6 channels and I can turn the fans off when i'm just browsing.
you can also control 4pin fans with it

Thanks mate!

I like the look of this controller: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BB-002-NX

Think it will work in controlling corsair AF120s and AF140s? Its out of stock but dont mind waiting as its plain and LEDS go orange to match my build :p

I've never used it myself so check online to make sure 3 pin fans work with it but I don't see why not!

You could talk to Tealc and have you case fans speed controlled automatically same as CPU and GPU fans are in most systems now. Case fans idle when system does and speed up as component fans speed up thus supplying air and cooling as needed instead of all the time or when we remember to turn up / down the fan controller. ;)

Alternatively the recon controller can be controlled automatically by software and setup to turn the fans on / off with the temp probes

Will this give the option to turn a fan off though or just lower it its lowest setting? Looking for one that will specifically set the fan to OFF.
The NZXT doesnt allow fans to be turned off unlike the Akasa FC6. I have the Akasa myself, whilst it's a nice controller it can cause a perceptible buzzing noise with some fans.

Boo, won't serve my purpose then!

Anyone know of any predominately black fan controllers that will allow fans to be turned off. If they have LED's it will need to have an orange setting as my OCD will not be able to live with it tbh. They don't need to have any fancy features either and Fan total I want to control is 3.
