Argument on train

Why didnt you just say " excuse me, could you turn that down" - rather than " is that you?" from what you said you didnt actually ask him to turn it down, just to confirm that it was him playing music.

I didn't take my frustration out on him at all. I merely let him know that his music was annoying. Barely taking frustration out at all. I said it in a very calm and polite way as far from my perspective. I am starting to think it wouldn't have matter how polite i said it this guy would have moaned about something. He was just not happy that he couldn't do what he wanted.

Well i wanted to make sure it was him before i let him know that it was annoying. I didn't want to ask the wrong person to turn it down.
 
This a hard one tbh as imo no one should be playing music from a phone on speaker while on public transport, having to ask someone to turn it down is anoyying in itself because it shouldn't be happening in the first place, imo it's akin to asking someone politely not to be an idiot.

As they say, manners don't cost anything.

Granted the guy shouldn't have been listening to loud music on the train, but it happens frequently. All you had to do was rise above it and be polite - politeness isn't going to hurt you and you're not going to lose man points as a result.

A simple "would you mind turning that down as it's disturbing people on the train" would have been sufficient.

Yeah. For me, people who play loud, tinny music from their phones is similar to if they came on gobbing on everyone. It's just stupid and rude.

This is normally what I do. Coupled with extremely sarcastic and over the top "dancing" stereotypical of the genre of music and acting like the inconsiderate **** in question is my best mate.

They either get the message, or are so thick that they don't realise you're ripping the wee out of them :p

+1 this. The idiot shouldn't be playing music in the first place and should have consideration for others.
 
It's a shame you aren't dating that girl from Pret, she probably would've known how to deal with speaking to another person correctly.
