PC vs PS4

Good afternoon,

Looking for some opinions on PC vs PS4. I purchased a PS4 when it came out and too be honest I haven't been impressed with the lack of gaming titles to chose from at launch.

Anyway I recently bought a PC at a local carboot, turns out it isn't a bad little runner; read about this here, I have since upgraded the PSU and the graphics card to this. After playing a couple of games with my "new" rig I have become mightily impressed with it and the graphics etc. achievable not to mention the endless mods that keep even older games current.

Which leads me to my questions! With my new found love of the mighty "PC" and wanting to plough my time and hard earned cash into it, should I ditch my PS4? Also, is it inevitable for "Next-gen" to become outdated sooner rather than later when compared to achievable PC builds?

Opinions please...

Thanks

The PS4 functions well as a media center if you don't have an alternative to hook up to your main TV.

What should swing it for you are the PS4/console exclusive games, since you're primarily looking at it from a gaming perspective.

Keep your PS4. Console exclusives of the previous generation such as The Last of US have no equivalent on PC. Furthermore, you will replace your new PC much sooner than your PS4.

If someone were to ask me, 'I can only choose one, PS4 or PC, what do I do?' I'd say PC all the way. Since you've already purchased your PS4, keep it, buy the huge hit exclusives (when they come out) and enjoy the rest of the games at higher quality on your PC.

Well we know where this thread will go on an Overclockers PC forum.

But i'd like to say keep the PS4, Sony will have plenty of excellent first party published titles like the next Uncharted game.

InFamous: Second Son also looks very lush, but the gameplay isn't all that.

The Last of Us: Definitive Edition will be great if you haven't had the pleasure of playing TLOU on PS3.

jokes aside, I wouldnt get rid of the PS4, you will have good exclusives at some point and its still the better of the next gen consoles. But I would definitely invest more money and make the PC your primary gaming machine, you will be able to achieve much nicer visuals and an unlimited amount of FPS if you have the money. The next gen console is IMO and a lot of others, already way behind where PC market is. The PS4 is already kinda outdated, PC hardware has moved way beyond 1080p and 30fps/60fps. 1440p, 1600p and 4k screens is now where the PC market is at and going, where as the next gen consoles will be stuck stagnant for the next 7 or 8 years I expect.

PC is the master race that is a fact

/end thread

:D

On a slightly more serious note, I have generally always owned a PC along with consoles. I like having consoles because they do offer games that simply never appear on the PC. There are also games on the PC that never appear on the consoles. The other reason for me is styles of play, I personally prefer FPS games on PC because I use KB+Mouse I cannot stand using a control pad for FPS games. I would never say one is better than the other because they both offer different things. That said vast majority of the time if a game appears on PC and consoles I will get it for PC.

IMHO I would keep the PS4 unless you are desperately in need of cash for the PC. Over the life of the console there are bound to be high quality exclusives for you to play.

Mixed views which was surprising...I'm not in desperate need of money just don't think I'll use the PS4 as much as the PC, but I'd get more for my PS4 shipping it on now than in a years time...

I think I will flog the PS4 and buy some new bits for the PC, thanks for your input...

Buying a console at launch is always a terrible idea, unless you have lots of money you don't want, you have no free time for the 2 good games it has or can make 10 hour games last 100 hours. Sell it, then if you still want to play the PS4 exclusives you can buy it for chips next time they roll out a new console.
